Pig farming techniques refer to a series of management methods adopted around the growth characteristics of pigs, covering such stages as breed selection, housing, feeding and disease prevention, with the aim of keeping pigs growing healthily and improving farming returns. Mastering scientific farming techniques is the foundation for developing pig production.

Breed selection is the first step in pig farming. Common breeds include introduced pig breeds such as Large White, Landrace and Duroc, which grow quickly and have a high lean meat rate, as well as local breeds such as the Taihu pig, which have strong adaptability and good meat flavor. Farmers can choose suitable breeds or carry out crossbreeding according to the local climate, market demand and rearing conditions.

In terms of feeding management, the pen should be built on higher ground that is well ventilated, sunny and easy to drain, so that it is warm in winter and cool in summer, dry and hygienic. Feed should be reasonably matched according to the growth stage of the pigs: piglets need supplementary feed and warmth, fattening pigs need a guaranteed supply of energy and protein, and sows need enhanced nutrition during gestation and lactation. At the same time, provide sufficient clean drinking water all day and keep the feed troughs and water troughs clean.

Disease prevention and control is a key part of successful pig farming. Routinely clean and disinfect the pens, vaccinate according to the immunization schedule against swine fever, foot-and-mouth disease and other diseases, and immediately isolate and handle any sick pigs found. In daily work, also observe the pigs' feed intake and mental state more often, so as to detect problems early and deal with them early. Only by adhering to fine management and strict disease prevention can pig farming achieve stable returns.
