The mink is a fur animal of relatively high economic value, belonging to the family Mustelidae, and is raised in captivity mainly for its pelt. It is naturally alert, good at swimming, and fond of quiet, cool environments, so the site should preferably be chosen in a place with higher terrain, abundant water, good drainage, and far from residential areas.

In terms of fur color, mink fall into two major categories: standard mink and color mink. Standard mink are mostly dark brown in fur color, while color mink include many color types such as white, coffee, and sapphire, and farmers can choose suitable breeds and color lines based on market demand and local climate conditions.

In terms of feeding, mink feed mainly on animal-based feed, commonly fish and livestock and poultry offal paired with grains and a small amount of vegetables; the feed must be fresh, as spoiled and deteriorated ingredients easily cause digestive tract diseases. In daily management, keep the cages clean and dry, provide shade and prevent heat stress in summer, ensure cold protection and warmth in winter, and adjust the nutritional ratio according to different physiological stages such as breeding mink, kits, and growing mink.

During the breeding period, focus on the key stages of mating, birthing, and rearing; when the female mink gives birth, the environment should be kept quiet to avoid frequent disturbance. At the same time, vaccinate according to schedule against diseases such as canine distemper and viral enteritis, regularly disinfect cages and equipment, and isolate and handle sick mink promptly when found.

Mink fur is fine and dense, with even guard hair and underfur and good luster, and is an important raw material for high-end fur products, with considerable economic value. However, mink farming has relatively high technical requirements, so before starting, one should systematically learn feeding and management knowledge and understand local regulations on farming approval and animal quarantine.
