Loach Farming Techniques: Per-Mu Yield Levels and Key Points for Improvement
The loach is a common small freshwater economic fish with tender flesh, strong adaptability, and a relatively low farming threshold. The per-mu yield of loach farming techniques refers to the harvest amount of loach that can be obtained from each mu of farming water surface when scientific farming methods are used, and it is an important indicator for measuring farming level and profitability.
In terms of farming models, loach farming is mainly divided into several methods such as intensive pond culture, rice-field co-culture, cage culture, and cement-pond culture. Intensive pond culture, by deepening the water level and equipping aeration and anti-escape facilities, generally achieves a relatively high per-mu yield; rice-field co-culture allows one field to serve two purposes, as the loach can feed on natural bait in the field, and although the per-mu yield is relatively low, the overall returns are fairly considerable.
To increase the per-mu yield of loach, several key steps need to be handled well. Before releasing the fry, the pond should be cleared and disinfected and the water quality fertilized, high-quality fry with uniform size and strong vitality should be selected, and a reasonable stocking density should be controlled; during the farming period, high-quality bait should be fed at fixed times and in fixed amounts, attention should be paid to water regulation, the water should be kept fresh, and at the same time good work should be done in preventing escape, disease, and predators.
Regarding common problems, loach has a strong ability to burrow and escape, so anti-escape facilities should be checked carefully during the rainy season and when filling and draining water; in high-temperature seasons, water quality is prone to deterioration, so water should be changed and oxygen added in a timely manner, and attention should be paid to the occurrence of diseases. Overall, only by choosing farming models according to local conditions and carrying out the links of fry, feeding, water quality, and anti-escape carefully and thoroughly can the per-mu yield level of loach farming be steadily improved.
