Zhejing 22: Introduction to a New Late Japonica Rice Variety in Zhejiang Province
To accelerate the promotion and application of new late japonica rice varieties and to exchange experience in their demonstration and extension, the Institute of Crop and Nuclear Technology Utilization of the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Zhejiang Provincial Seed Station jointly held a field observation meeting on October 23-24 in Huzhou to demonstrate the new provincial late japonica rice variety "Zhejing 22". More than 50 representatives attended the meeting, including those from the Institute of Crop and Nuclear Technology Utilization of the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Scientific Research Division of the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Zhejiang Provincial Seed Station, the Rural Affairs Division of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and relevant municipal and county seed management and extension departments, as well as units undertaking the "Zhejing 22" demonstration project. The attending representatives conducted an on-site inspection of the provincial-level 100-mu demonstration plot of the new late japonica rice variety "Zhejing 22" at the Yueshanwei Agricultural Park in Shuangfuqiao Village, Hefu Town, Nanxun District, Huzhou City.

Introduction to the Characteristics and Traits of the Yangmai 16 Wheat Variety
Yangmai 16 (Yang 0-126) is a spring-type, medium-maturity wheat variety bred by the Institute of Agricultural Sciences of the Lixiahe Region in Jiangsu through crossing Yang 91F138 and Yang 90-30. Introduction to the Characteristics of the Jindao 1229 Rice Variety
It is a new japonica rice variety bred by the Tianjin Rice Research Institute. The whole growth period is 145 days, the plant height is 110-120 cm, the tillering ability is strong, and the panicle-setting rate is high, with an average of 124 grains per panicle, a seed-setting rate of 85%-91%, and a 1000-grain weight of 26-27 g. It is moderately resistant to rice blast, highly resistant to rice false smut, tolerant to saline-alkali conditions, and has moderate lodging resistance. According to the results of two years of regional trials and two years of production trials at 14 site-times from 1997-1999: the average yield is 478.3 kg/667 sq m.
