How is Batai Black Fragrant Rice? An introduction to its variety characteristics
Batai Black Fragrant Rice was bred by farmers in Zengcheng City through mutation selection from the progeny of Basmati treated with concentrated solar radiation. It was successfully bred in 1993 (only the seed source was retained, awaiting development).
Production performance and rice quality characteristics: according to trial plantings, this variety yields 275-350 kg per mu, and can reach 400 kg under high-yield cultivation. The grain surface is deep black in color, and the grains are slender. It is a fragrant, soft-textured rice, containing essential trace elements, amino acids, vitamins and plant sterols and other medicinal components, making it a health-promoting, medicinal rice variety.
Characteristics and traits: this variety has a plant height of 90-95 cm, a relatively long second internode, moderate lodging resistance, and belongs to the temperature-sensitive mid-maturing type. Its tillering ability is relatively weak. The stems are purple-tinged, the leaves are relatively long, the panicle length is 28 cm, with an average of 100 grains per panicle, a seed-setting rate of 78%, and a 1000-grain weight of 17.5 g. It is resistant to rice blast, moderately resistant to rice sheath blight, and relatively resistant to rice planthoppers. No white leaf or fine stripe disease was found in the field.
Cultivation points: this variety should be sown and broadcast at the proper time, with sufficient basic seedlings broadcast. Apply early fertilizer steadily in the early stage, and pay attention to the amount of ear-promoting fertilizer applied in the middle stage. Pay attention to selecting fields with medium to low fertility for planting. When sufficient seedlings are reached, drain the field to strengthen lodging resistance. Keep sufficient water in the field in the later stage. Do a good job of preventing pests and diseases.
