Bamboo fungus (Phallus indusiatus) is a valuable edible mushroom, and during cultivation it is often infected by various diseases due to high temperature and high humidity, poor ventilation and other reasons. The common ones include green mold disease, soft rot, brown rot and contamination by coprinoid weed fungi. These diseases may, at best, affect mycelial growth, and at worst cause the fruiting bodies to rot, directly affecting the harvest, so disease prevention and control is a key part of bamboo fungus production.

The occurrence of bamboo fungus diseases is mostly related to improper treatment of the growing substrate. Raw materials that have become damp and moldy, incomplete sterilization, and casing soil that has not been disinfected can all easily bring pathogens into the mushroom house. In addition, excessive watering, long-term stuffy and damp conditions in the mushroom house, and poor air circulation also create conditions for pathogen reproduction.

For control, prevention should be given priority. First, choose fresh and clean growing substrate, ensure the pile fermentation is thorough, and expose the casing soil to the sun in advance or disinfect it. During cultivation, pay attention to controlling temperature and humidity, ventilate frequently, and avoid being in a high-temperature, high-humidity state for long periods. During routine management, remove diseased mushrooms and mold spots promptly, and spread lime around the affected area for isolation to prevent further spread.

If the bamboo fungus buttons become soft and rot, it is most likely caused by excessive humidity or direct impact from watering, so the amount of water sprayed should be reduced and ventilation strengthened. After cultivation ends, promptly clean up leftover mushrooms and waste substrate and disinfect the mushroom house and site, which can effectively reduce the risk of disease in the next season. By maintaining good environmental hygiene and daily observation, most bamboo fungus diseases can be prevented at an early stage.
