  • Key Technical Points for Autumn Potato Cultivation with Rice Straw Mulching (Part 2)

    4. Timely early sowing. Potatoes prefer a cool climate, and the sowing period should be when the daily average temperature steadily drops below 25°C. In plain and hilly areas below 500 m in altitude, the suitable sowing period is from late August to early September; in low mountainous areas at 500-800 m in altitude, the suitable sowing period is in late August. 5. Reasonable close planting and sufficient base fertilizer. For fields with rice stubble potatoes intercropped with rapeseed, both potatoes and rapeseed are planted in wide-narrow row patterns. For potatoes, the wide row is 0.6 m, the narrow row is 0.2 m, the hill spacing is 0.22 m, and about 700

  • Degradable-film controlled-release fertilizer for rice successfully developed in Hunan Province

The Soil and Fertilizer Institute of Hunan Province has developed a degradable-film controlled-release fertilizer for rice that can be widely applied in rice-growing regions of China with no side effects. Using natural and semi-natural polymer materials as the main coating components and adopting a self-developed new fluidized dual-spray-bed coating process, the Soil and Fertilizer Institute of Hunan Province developed a degradable-film controlled-release fertilizer whose nutrient release can be artificially controlled within 30 to 330 days. This controlled-release fertilizer is non-toxic, completely degrades within 2 years after being applied to the soil with no residue, and can reduce fertilizer pollution of the atmosphere, soil, water bodies and other environments.

  • Detailed Introduction to the Rice Variety Huhong Zao No. 1

Breeding institution: Rice and Sorghum Research Institute, Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Approval status: approved by the Sichuan Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee in 1986, by the Hunan Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee in 1988, and by the National Crop Variety Approval Committee in 1991. Variety registration number: GS01018-l990. Variety source: 1277/Red 410. Characteristics: an early indica medium-maturity variety. Strong growth at the seedling stage, medium tillering, dark green leaf color, plant height about 75 cm

  • How is the rice variety Feiyou 600?

Feiyou 600 is a hybrid late indica rice variety developed by researcher Cheng Shihua and others in 1999 by crossing Feigai A with R600. This combination has medium tillering ability, large panicles with many grains, a relatively high 1000-grain weight, good yield potential, and relatively low fertilizer requirements. Its resistance to rice blast is significantly better than that of the control, its grain quality is slightly better than that of the control Shanyou 63, and its seed production yield is relatively high. It is suitable for single-season rice cultivation in Zhejiang Province, and in southern Zhejiang it can be grown as continuous late rice. In cultivation, attention should be paid to preventing lodging and controlling bacterial leaf blight. In the 2001 and 2002 Zhejiang Province single-season hybrid indica rice regional trials, the two-year

  • Detailed introduction to the rice variety Fengaizhan No. 1

Fengaizhan No. 1 is a new conventional high-quality, high-yield rice variety bred by the Rice Research Institute of the Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences through crossing Changsizhan with Fengqing'ai. Characteristics and traits: The variety participated in the early-season regional trials in Guangdong Province and Hainan Province from 1995 to 1996. The average yields per mu were 404.82 kg and 442.6 kg respectively, increasing yield by 5.96% and 16.51% compared with the controls Qishanzhan and QiguiZao 25, with the highest yield per mu reaching 642.5 kg. The grain quality is relatively good. According to measurements by the Grain Chemistry Laboratory of the China National Rice Research Institute, the brown rice rate is 80.9%, the milled rice rate is 73.7

  • Introduction to New Rice Hybrid Combinations from Fengle Seed

Yuxiangyou No. 2 is a new two-line hybrid rice combination developed by the Rice Research Institute of Fengle Seed using the broad-compatibility restorer line Fengxianghui No. 1 with Guangzhan 63s. It is a high-quality, high-yield, disease-resistant, aromatic two-line hybrid rice combination. In 2003 it entered the mid-season rice preliminary trial in Hubei Province, and in 2004 it entered the mid-season rice regional trial in Hubei Province. When cultivated as mid-season rice, the whole growth period is about 135 days, comparable to Shanyou 63. It has good vigor, plant height about 125 cm, total grains per panicle 180-200, seed-setting rate about 85%, 1000-grain weight 28 g, yield about 600
