The Konjo Asagi koi is a representative variety within the Asagi line of koi, and Asagi itself is considered one of the original strains of koi. Its back scales are arranged in a net-like pattern of alternating light and dark, with an overall tone leaning toward konjo, that is, a deeper indigo blue, while the belly and the base of the fins often show an orange-red transition, giving the whole fish a calm and elegant appearance.

The most valued points of appreciation for this variety are whether the net pattern is clear and whether the color of the head is clean; the more orderly the pale edging along the scale margins, the higher the ornamental value usually is. Common types within the Asagi line include Konjo Asagi and Narumi Asagi, among which Konjo Asagi has a deeper base color and a richer blue tone, making it a rather classical type.

As for keeping, it is largely the same as for ordinary koi: a fairly large volume of water and a complete filtration system are needed, keeping the water clean and the dissolved oxygen sufficient. Feeding is mainly with special compound feed, in small amounts given several times, to avoid leftover food fouling the water. When changing the water, take care that the temperature difference is not too great; the new water is best left to stand in the sun or treated to remove chlorine before use.

In daily management, the key is to guard against parasites and bacterial diseases, such as the common problems of white spot disease, Chilodonella, and Lernaea. If fish are seen scraping against the tank, floating at the surface, losing appetite, or showing abnormalities on the body surface, they should be isolated for observation and treated according to the symptoms promptly. As long as the water quality is stable and feeding is reasonable, the physique and coloration of the Konjo Asagi koi can be maintained in good condition.
