Flower Autumn Green koi have high ornamental value, and daily keeping focuses on water quality management
The Flower Autumn Green koi is a well-known variant of the Autumn Green koi and belongs to the light yellow group of the German carp system. It is generally believed to have been developed by crossbreeding and selecting light yellow koi with German carp. Its back is mostly scaleless, with only a row of large scales remaining along the dorsal ridge and lateral line, and its base color is an elegant blue-gray or blue-green. Compared with the ordinary Autumn Green, the red patches on the sides of the Flower Autumn Green are scattered in large floral blotches, like flowers falling on a blue background, which is how it got its name.
When selecting and appreciating this variety, the main things to look at are whether the blue scales on the back are arranged neatly, whether the color is even, and whether the outlines of the red patches on the sides are clear and natural. Individuals with coordinated color transitions on the head and fins and a balanced overall distribution of color blocks have better ornamental quality. Because it has few scales, its skin is relatively delicate, so care should be taken to avoid abrasions when netting and transporting it.
Daily keeping is basically the same as for other koi, with the key points being to maintain stable water quality, change the water regularly, and keep the filtration system running properly. When water temperature fluctuates greatly or water quality deteriorates, common parasite problems such as white spot disease and anchor worm are easily triggered. Usually pay attention to whether the fish show abnormalities such as white spots, red spots, or rubbing against the tank, and isolate and treat them as early as possible once found. Feed at fixed times and in fixed amounts, and adjust the feeding amount according to changes in water temperature, so the fish will grow and show body color more ideally.
The Flower Autumn Green koi has a striking color combination of blue base and red patches. Kept alone, it shows elegance, and when mixed with other varieties it also has a strong sense of layering. It is suitable for courtyard ponds or large aquariums. For enthusiasts who like light yellow koi, it is a highly recognizable variety worth acquiring.
