What are the key points of the planting technology for seleng wormwood?
Seleng wormwood, also called Artemisia selengensis, is a plant of the Asteraceae family. It is distributed throughout all parts of our country and is welcomed by many people. The tender stems and leaves of Artemisia selengensis can be eaten as a vegetable; they can not only be served cold with dressing, but can also be used for stir-frying. Therefore, more and more people are now growing seleng wormwood. However, many people do not know how to grow it. So today, the editor brings you the planting technology of seleng wormwood. Let us take a look below!

1. Land preparation and fertilization
Before planting seleng wormwood, we first need to do a good job of land preparation and fertilization for the planting plot. The previous crop in the planting plot should mainly be a non-Asteraceae crop, ensuring good drainage and irrigation conditions and high soil fertility. Before planting, the soil should be plowed and sun-dried, and sufficient base fertilizer should be applied along with it. Use mainly decomposed farmyard manure, then prepare the land and make beds, keeping the bed width at about 2 m, with cultivation mainly in deep furrows and high beds. Then we must also pay attention to removing weeds in the field, ensuring the normal growth and development of the seleng wormwood root system and improving nutrient accumulation.
2. Drilling and planting
The propagation method of seleng wormwood is generally mainly seed propagation. The sowing time is generally in March-April each year; after fully and evenly mixing the seeds with fine soil, they can be sown directly. As for the sowing method, either direct sowing or drilling can be used, but it is best to use drilling. When drilling, the row spacing should be kept at about 30 cm. Then after sowing, cover with a layer of fine soil and water. Under normal circumstances, seedlings will emerge in late March. After the seedlings emerge, thinning and replanting should be done well to ensure a complete seedling rate.
3. Field management
When seleng wormwood is sown, the temperature is still relatively low, so it is easily harmed by severe frost and may suffer frost-kill. Therefore, if the aboveground part is damaged by frost, pay attention to promptly cutting off the seleng wormwood stems. Then remove dead branches, fallen leaves and weeds in the field, and loosen the soil appropriately. Then apply an appropriate amount of compound fertilizer per mu and water thoroughly with sufficient bottom water; after about a week, set up a frame and cover with film. Directly cover the plants with plastic film and press down the edges firmly. If a large amount of soil has been applied, then we should appropriately delay the time of covering with plastic film. Finally, on sunny days, when the temperature is relatively high at noon, proper ventilation should be done at this time to lower the temperature and humidity.
4. Harvest management
The planting methods of seleng wormwood generally include open-field planting and protected cultivation. With protected cultivation, seleng wormwood can be covered in stages and batches. This can advance its time to market and ensure a balanced supply. Among these, with greenhouse covering cultivation, after about one and a half months of covering, when the plants have grown to about 22 cm, they can be harvested and brought to market. When harvesting, first cut it off at the base of the seleng wormwood, retain a small amount of new leaves on the tender stems, and remove all other leaves. Then stack it in a cool place, cover it with a layer of wet cloth, and let it soften briefly before bringing it to market.
The above is a brief introduction to the planting technology of seleng wormwood. That is all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only, and I hope it can help everyone!
