Detailed Lettuce Cultivation Technology: Sowing Methods and Management Key Points
Lettuce is a very common vegetable in our daily lives, and its planting area in China is very large. Its market demand is also relatively large, and when growing lettuce, the seedling cultivation work is very important. Reasonable seedling cultivation is a key measure to ensure the healthy growth of lettuce, so everyone must pay close attention to it. So how should lettuce be cultivated from seed? Below, the editor brings you the lettuce cultivation technology. Let's take a look!

1. Seedbed Selection
When cultivating lettuce seedlings, we first need to choose a good seedbed. The growth of lettuce has very high requirements for the seedbed. It should be on sandy loam soil that is shady, well-ventilated, has not previously been planted with leafy green vegetables, and is free of pests and diseases. When cultivating seedlings, we should plow and sun-bake the soil about seven days in advance to improve the application rate of organic fertilizer and increase the fertility of the seedbed. However, attention should be paid to controlling the amount of organic fertilizer applied; it should not be too much, to prevent fertilizer damage. After applying the base fertilizer, the fertilizer should be fully mixed with the soil to ensure soil fertility.
Then make the seedbed into beds, with a width of about 1 m and a height of about 20 cm. Around the seedbed, attention should also be paid to digging drainage ditches, and the width of the drainage ditches should be kept at about 28 cm. After leveling and finely raking the seedbed, spread a layer of about 3 cm of decomposed nutrient soil on top, and level the bed surface. Then, sterilization and pest elimination work should also be done well, and appropriate pesticides should be sprayed to treat the seedbed. Pesticides such as trichlorfon and thiophanate-methyl can be used to ensure the disinfection effect and promote the healthy growth of lettuce.
2. Seed Treatment
Then we should also pay attention to doing a good job in treating lettuce seeds. Before sowing, the seeds should first be soaked at low temperature to promote germination. The main purpose is to break the seed dormancy period. The seeds should first be soaked in cold water for about 5 hours. Then wrap them well in wet gauze and place them at a temperature of about 5°C for about one day. Then take them out and place them at 20°C under light to promote germination. During the germination process, pour cold water on the seeds about twice a day. After about 3 days, when more than 80% of the seeds have cracked and sprouted, they can be sown.
3. Timely Sowing
For cultivating autumn lettuce, its growth period is about three months, and the sowing period should be in July-August. When sowing, attention should be paid to watering enough bottom water, and then evenly sprinkle the treated seeds on the cooled seedbed. The seeds should be mixed evenly with fine sand, mainly for sparse sowing. After sowing, attention should also be paid to covering with about 0.5 cm of nutrient soil, and at the same time, attention should be paid to doing a good job of shading and light blocking. When the lettuce seedlings grow about two true leaves, thinning can be carried out, with the seedling spacing kept at about 5 cm. When about 4-5 leaves have grown, planting out can begin.
The above is a brief introduction to lettuce cultivation technology. That's all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only, and I hope it can help everyone!
