How Should Rapeseed Be Fertilized in Winter

Rapeseed is one of the main oilseed crops in China. Its rapeseed plants are tall, have a long growth period, and have a relatively high demand for fertilizer. Winter fertilization of rapeseed can also enhance its cold resistance and promote early vigorous growth after the arrival of spring. So how should rapeseed be fertilized in winter? Come and take a look with the editor.

1. Skillfully Apply Seedling-Promoting Fertilizer

After the seedlings are transplanted and turn green again, seedling-promoting fertilizer should be applied in a timely manner, the earlier the better. Generally, apply 3-5 kg of urea, 5 kg of potassium chloride, 300-500 grams of boron fertilizer, and 750-1000 kg of dilute human and livestock manure water per mu, and 1-2 applications are needed. Alternatively, apply 45-50 kg of ammonium bicarbonate per mu. After application, the plants should turn green again as soon as possible, thereby making full use of the high temperatures after clear weather to promote rapid root development and leaf growth of rapeseed.

2. Heavily Apply Winter Fertilizer

Winter fertilizer is mainly organic fertilizer. For plots with medium fertility, apply 1000-1500 kg of decomposed farmyard manure, 10-12 kg of superphosphate, and 5-7.5 kg of ammonium bicarbonate per mu. When applying, mix the three fertilizers evenly together. Then apply them between the rows, combined with intertillage and weeding, so as to play a role in keeping warm, promoting roots, protecting roots, and increasing fertility.

3. Foliar Spraying of Fertilizer

Foliar spraying of phosphorus fertilizer can enhance the cold resistance of rapeseed. The method for preparing the phosphorus fertilizer solution is to crush 2 kg of phosphorus fertilizer per mu, then put it into a container, add an appropriate amount of clean water, and soak it. After one week, remove it, then add 200 grams of urea per mu, and spray the leaves until they are about to drip. If the container is relatively small and the prepared fertilizer solution is insufficient, a small amount of clean water can be added to reduce the evaporation of the solution and maximize absorption and utilization by the leaves. Foliar fertilizer should be sprayed on sunny afternoons in windless weather.

4. Spring Fertilizer to Strengthen Seedlings

Do a good job of spring fertilizer application to strengthen late-planted rapeseed seedlings. This is an important measure for achieving high yields in late-planted rapeseed. Generally, after spring arrives, apply 8-10 kg of urea per mu, and then apply another 5-7 kg during the bolting stage. Rely on spring fertilizer to achieve the goal of high yield, and strictly prevent downy mildew from occurring after spring in late-developing rapeseed. During the bolting stage, pesticides such as miebingwei and hekuling can be used for control.
