How to plant mountain bean root seedlings

Mountain bean root (Sophora tonkinensis) is a traditional Chinese medicinal herb, mainly distributed in the southern regions of our country, growing in mid-altitude valleys. It can now be cultivated artificially, mainly to meet market demand. How to plant mountain bean root, the necessary preparatory work, and the operation process. We will mainly introduce these in the following text.

1. Germination methods

Mix the seeds and perlite at a ratio of 1 to 3, place them in a dedicated germination tray, then spread a 1 cm layer of fine river sand on top. After that, spray water to maintain moisture, cover with cling film, and germinate in an incubator, maintaining a temperature of around 25°C. It should sprout after one week; once the seeds show white and grow a 1 mm radicle, they can be sown.

2. Sowing preparation

Prepare sowing containers, small black nutrient cups with a diameter of 10 cm and a height of 12 cm, using humus soil, or leaf mold from mountain forests. Piled and fermented fertile soil is used as the culture medium. To increase air permeability, add some river sand. Fill the soil level with the cup rim. This way, after watering it will settle about 1 cm, just leaving space.

3. Sowing methods

Take a small stick, slightly larger than the seed, and poke a hole about 5 cm deep in the soil. Place the seed in, and cover it with the surrounding soil. Then spray water, just enough to soak through; when you see water flowing out of the hole at the bottom, stop watering to avoid water accumulation. Water every day afterward, but do not use a hose to spray water directly, as it easily washes out the seeds.

4. Seedling emergence management

After emergence, spray water daily; you can increase it by one time or not, depending on soil moisture and soil moisture retention. After the seedlings are uniform, spray water once every three days; if humidity is too high, the seedlings are easily infected by pathogens. Do not spray water at noon, and after rain pay attention to clearing drainage channels. Pull out weeds as soon as you see them; generally there are not many weeds in container seedling cultivation. During the vigorous growth period, spray 0.2% urea or similar to supplement fertility.

Planting mountain bean root seedlings is relatively easy; the key point is seedling management. Field planting is also just a domestic matter, but later management and maintenance are even more difficult.
