What are the environmental requirements for planting Bupleurum?
Bupleurum is a well-known medicinal herb, mainly using its root for medicine, and it is a common remedy for wind-heat colds. However, it can also treat many other diseases. Today, the supply of medicinal materials all relies on artificial cultivation. So there are also many people growing Bupleurum. When growing Bupleurum, some friends do not understand what requirements this Bupleurum has for the growing environment, or how to create a good environment suitable for Bupleurum growth. So the following text will continue to introduce this issue.

1. Temperature
It likes warmth. Generally, seeds only begin to germinate above 18 degrees, and after that they can grow at any temperature, but the most suitable temperature for plant growth is between 18 and 22 degrees. Above 30 degrees, growth is inhibited and slow. In winter, it can overwinter at low temperatures, and it can overwinter even at dozens of degrees below zero. But it is best that the temperature is not too low.
2. Humidity
It likes a humid climate environment, is a relatively drought-tolerant plant, and is also afraid of waterlogging and floods, so land near riverbanks should not be planted. Before emergence, it needs a moist soil environment, but after emergence, some water needs to be controlled. It can no longer be covered to retain moisture. The soil can be loosened appropriately to release moisture. When it rains, especially in the summer in the south, it must be planted on hillside land, with deep furrows opened for drainage at any time.
3. Soil nutrients
It is suitable for planting in neutral and slightly acidic soil. Choose soil with a granular structure, and it needs sandy loam soil with sufficient sunlight, convenient drainage, and a loose deep layer. The soil is best if it is itself rich in humus, but land opened at the foot of a mountain generally does not have much organic matter and needs leaf compost to improve it. You can also apply 3,000 jin of livestock manure or straw compost per mu, plus 100 jin of compound fertilizer.
4. Light
Seedlings need shade and grow in a cool environment. Adult plants all need sufficient light and need to grow toward the sun. They need strong light conditions so that they can grow and develop normally. A low-light environment or a shaded environment will both lead to poor growth. Bupleurum is not shade-tolerant, and when growing in the wild it also grows on sunny hillsides.
Bupleurum planting has its own unique requirements for the environment. Artificial cultivation should provide a suitable environment as much as possible, which is very helpful for the growth of planted Bupleurum.
