How should you grow morel mushrooms? Morel mushroom growing techniques and timing
Morel mushrooms are a type of fungus with very high market demand in China, and they like to grow in low-temperature, high-humidity environments. That is why they are most widely distributed in the southwestern region of China. The current market price of morel mushrooms is very high, so their economic benefits are quite good. So how should you grow morel mushrooms? Below, the editor brings you the growing time and methods for morel mushrooms. Let's take a look!

1. Growing time
Because morel mushrooms like to grow in low-temperature, high-humidity environments, they can grow normally as long as the temperature stays within the range of 3-25°C, and the most suitable growing temperature is within 15-18°C. So sowing is generally done from October to December each year. If the temperature goes outside the 3-25°C range, the mycelium is very likely to die. Therefore, when growing morel mushrooms, you must be sure to choose the sowing time well and adjust it according to factors such as temperature and humidity to ensure normal growth of the morel mushrooms.
2. Preparation before planting
Before planting, we need to prepare a suitable growing substrate for morel mushrooms. The substrate is generally made mainly from materials such as straw, sawdust and bran, and some phosphate fertilizer, humus soil and other substances can also be added. After mixing the substrate well, add an appropriate amount of water, ferment it for about three weeks, and then put it into plastic bags. Then place it in a high-temperature environment for sterilization. After these preparatory steps are done, you can begin the work of inoculating the mycelium. The inoculation method is mainly inoculating from both ends, then covering with film and soil, pressing it firm, placing it flat on the bed surface, and finally sprinkling water and covering with soil as appropriate. After about one month, the fruiting bodies will grow out.
3. Management during the fruiting period
The fruiting bodies of morel mushrooms can generally grow in an environment of 10-18°C. If it goes beyond this range, the growth of the fruiting bodies is clearly hindered, and the most suitable temperature is 12-15°C. After the fruiting bodies grow out, we need to pay attention to controlling light well, as light is very important for the formation of fruiting bodies. Especially during the development of the fruiting bodies, light is essential, and an appropriate amount of scattered light should be provided for the morel mushrooms. The intensity of scattered light also has a certain relationship with the color of the fruiting bodies. If the light is stronger, the color of the morel mushrooms will be darker, and conversely it will be lighter. During the fruiting period, providing about 30% light for the morel mushrooms is sufficient.
4. Ventilation and moisture
During the growth of the morel mushroom fruiting bodies, pay attention to controlling the soil moisture content and keep it at about 60%. Suitable moisture content is what ensures the normal growth of morel mushrooms. The entire mushroom shed should maintain a humid environment, and it is best to keep the humidity at about 88%. Then we also need to do a good job of ventilation, because morel mushrooms are an aerobic fungus, so there should be sufficient oxygen in the mushroom shed. Every morning and evening, appropriately open the shade net and ventilate properly to maintain air quality.
