Why are green pepper leaves curling? Cause analysis
Green peppers are peppers planted in spring and harvested in summer. When farmers grow peppers at home, small problems sometimes appear, for example, the green pepper leaves curl. They may have been fine before, and then one day the green pepper leaves are suddenly found curled. What is the reason for this? Let us take a look at what the specific causes may be, and how to effectively prevent this phenomenon.

1. Lack of water
When soil moisture is lacking, the root system will lose water and dry up, and it will also lose its ability to absorb. If the root system cannot absorb much water, then the leaves will lack water, the whole plant will lack water, and in the end the leaves may curl because of water loss. In this case, it is best not to touch the leaves at first. In the evening, when transpiration is low, water them promptly, but do not water too much at first; gradually return to normal watering.
2. High temperature
If summer arrives and the outside temperature is high, transpiration is very high, and the soil temperature will also rise. If there is a lot of soil moisture at this time, the root system is easily scalded; if there is no moisture, the leaves will curl to reduce transpiration and ensure the leaves do not wither. For this cause, it is best to control the temperature at all times. Sometimes a shade net can be put up, or other items can be covered to lower the temperature. If it is planted in a greenhouse, the temperature is somewhat easier to regulate.
3. Viral disease
Peppers can be infected by many kinds of viral diseases, and many viral diseases cause leaf wrinkling and curling. However, the symptoms after infection with a viral disease are quite obvious, and it is easy to identify whether the leaf curling is caused by a viral disease. If it is, treat it promptly. This is not just a problem of curled leaves; it is best to use the corresponding pesticide to control the condition and eliminate the virus. But when spraying, pay attention to the concentration used, and do not damage the leaves.
4. Insect pests
Aphids, planthoppers, mites and similar insects all suck the sap of leaves or plants, and at the same time they can also spread viral diseases. When these insects are found, generally the larvae gather on the back of leaves or on branches and stems. As soon as they are found, the insects can first be brushed off and collected in a container, and finally pesticide solution can be applied to kill them directly. Then the entire planting area must be sprayed with pesticide, including the field ridges.
5. Improper management
Sometimes the soil lacks nutrients, fertilizer is applied very little, and nutrition is insufficient, which can also cause leaf curling. If there is very little humus and a lot of nitrogen fertilizer is applied, the pepper plants' growth and resistance decline, they have no resistance, and their adaptability is very weak. Therefore, in addition to choosing suitable soil, it is also possible to apply more decomposed farmyard manure, leaf mold and the like. Use chemical fertilizers and nitrogen fertilizers alone less often.
The main causes of green pepper leaf curling are the above. In fact, there may also be other causes. Everything must be judged according to actual growth. The key is to prevent aphid damage and viral diseases; the two are closely related. Lack of water and high temperature are both physiological causes and need attention.
