What to Do When Eggplants Turn White? Causes and Control Methods
Eggplant is a common vegetable in our daily lives, but some growers have found that purple eggplants turn into white eggplants, which seriously affects the appearance quality of the eggplants, reduces their commercial value, and severely impacts the income of farmers. So what causes eggplants to turn white? How should they be controlled? Let's find out together.

1. Temperature causes
When the temperature in the greenhouse is too low, especially when the temperature in the latter half of the night is too low, the conversion of lycopene in the eggplant is blocked, so the eggplant develops difficulty in coloring and gradually turns white. When the temperature inside the eggplant fruit is around 24, its lycopene formation is better; if the temperature during the coloring period is unsuitable, the phenomenon of eggplants turning white is very likely to occur.
Control method: Adjust the temperature properly, and spray New High Lipid Film to form a polymer film, which both preserves heat and moisture and prevents pathogens. During the fruiting period, keep the daytime temperature continuously between 25-30 degrees, and the nighttime temperature at around 16-20 degrees.
2. Light causes
Eggplant is a light-loving crop. Insufficient light will lead to weak and spindly plant growth, reduced yield, difficulty in pigment formation, dull fruit color, and easy development of other off-colors. In particular, it makes purple eggplants difficult to color, directly affecting their commercial value. In addition, under low-light conditions, if malnutrition occurs at the same time, it will aggravate the occurrence of poorly colored fruit.
Control method: On the premise of adjusting the temperature properly, appropriately remove the old leaves at the lower part of the plant, combine this with wiping the greenhouse film, and spray Photosynthetic Nutrient Film Fertilizer, which can help the crop absorb light, fertilizer and water to support plant growth and development to the limit.
3. Excessive application of nitrogen fertilizer
Applying too much nitrogen fertilizer causes excessive vegetative growth and leggy branches and leaves, which makes the fruit difficult to color. Applying too much nitrogen fertilizer, especially too much in the late growth stage, makes the plant's vegetative growth stronger than its reproductive growth, so that the leaves press against and shade each other, affecting fruit ripening and leading to poor coloring.
Control method: In the late growth stage of eggplant, try to control the application of nitrogen fertilizer. If the plant is growing poorly, spray some New High Lipid Film and foliar fertilizer to solve the problem. If excessive growth occurs, promptly spray Flower Promotion King No. 3 to force a large amount of the vigorous nutrients in the shoot tips to flow back, rapidly weakening the inertial advantage of shoot growth to a capped state. Shift the main stem's nutrients to young fruit development, improve the fruit's expansion vitality, avoid overly large leaves, and improve field ventilation.
