What should be noted when using high-temperature greenhouse sealing in summer?
For greenhouses used for vegetable cultivation for more than five years, the soil contains a great many pathogens. As continuous cropping in greenhouses keeps increasing, soil-borne diseases gradually develop, and the hot season is exactly a good time to prevent and control pests and diseases. As long as growers master the greenhouse sealing method well, they can achieve twice the result with half the effort in pest and disease control. However, there are also some issues to note when sealing a greenhouse at high temperature. Let's take a look below.

1. Do not apply biological bacterial fertilizer
When plowing in base fertilizer before sealing the greenhouse, be sure not to apply biological bacterial fertilizer together into the vegetable greenhouse. If biological bacterial fertilizer is applied before sealing the greenhouse, the beneficial bacteria in the biological bacterial fertilizer will be killed by the high temperature during the high-temperature sealing process, and thus cannot play their original role, causing waste and raising cultivation costs.
2. Film replacement
Generally, the film of a greenhouse is replaced once a year. Farmers can, after pulling up the spring vegetable crop, level and plow the land, apply farmyard manure, and use the old film for high-temperature sealing. Although heating up this way is slower, the sealing time should be appropriately extended when sealing the greenhouse. However, it does not matter if the sealing time is a little longer, because the old film has also reached the time to be replaced, so replace it with new film promptly after sealing.
3. Move out the plants
For greenhouses with severe root-knot nematode problems, the plants should be moved out of the greenhouse promptly before high-temperature sealing, so as to prevent root-knot nematodes from harming the plants during sealing and hindering plant growth and development. In addition, many farmers apply all fertilizers together into the greenhouse as base fertilizer, including biological bacterial fertilizer, which is obviously wrong. Some vegetable growers even, after applying sufficient base fertilizer containing biological bacterial fertilizer, not only seal the greenhouse at high temperature but also fumigate with methyl bromide, a practice that is even less worthy of being encouraged.
4. Sealing time
When sealing the greenhouse, also pay attention to the sealing time. When new film is used, the temperature rises quickly, but the film is damaged rather seriously, so the sealing time should be appropriately controlled. Generally, after dry sealing, seal for another half a month while wet. For some old greenhouses, the sealing time can be extended a little, but try not to exceed 20 days.
