Soybean Planting Techniques

Soybean holds a very important position in China and is one of the country's staple food crops. China's annual consumption of soybean is enormous, and its market demand is increasing year by year. China is also a major soybean-exporting country. Therefore, as market demand grows, the soybean planting area urgently needs to be expanded. So how should soybeans be planted? Below, the editor brings you the planting techniques for soybean. Let's take a look!

1. Site Selection and Land Preparation

Soybean grows best on plots with fertile soil, normal drainage and irrigation, and no pests or diseases, which can effectively increase soybean yield. Note, however, that soybean must not be grown continuously on the same land, otherwise pests and diseases are very likely to occur and affect soybean growth. After selecting the site, plow the soil about 30 cm deep, then level it. Pick out the residues of the previous crop, weeds, and large stones from the field to avoid pathogens harming soybean growth. Then, based on your own planting habits, decide whether to grow on ridges or in beds.

2. Variety Selection

There are many soybean varieties. When choosing a variety to plant, we should select a suitable one according to the actual soil conditions, the environment, and various other factors. After purchasing the seeds, be sure to do a good job of sprouting and disinfecting them. First, soak the seeds in warm water at about 40 degrees for about 5-6 hours. When you notice the seeds swelling with water, take them out and dry them in the sun to break their dormancy period. Then use a chemical agent to dress the seeds, to avoid damage from underground pests, eliminate pathogens inside the seeds, and increase the germination and seedling emergence rate.

3. Timely Sowing

When sowing soybean, the sowing method should be adjusted appropriately according to the different varieties. For example, early-maturing varieties are mainly drilled in rows, while late-maturing ones are mainly sown in holes. Then choose the appropriate sowing time according to the season. If it is summer sowing, it should be done after the wheat harvest. Do not sow too late; at the latest, no later than July, otherwise it will have a certain impact on soybean yield. When sowing, be careful to control the sowing density; it must not be too dense, to prevent plants from affecting each other's growth. After sowing, cover with soil and mulch, and water appropriately to increase the seed germination rate.

4. Routine Management

When growing soybean, pay attention to a series of management tasks such as water and fertilizer, intertillage and weeding, and shading. First, control moisture well: while meeting soybean's water needs for growth, do not overwater, to prevent root rot that can trigger pests and diseases. Apply fertilizer reasonably according to the soil fertility and the growth of the soybean. When the field temperature is too high, do a good job of cooling down, to avoid direct sunlight on the soybean plants, which can cause sunscald. Then carry out intertillage and weeding regularly to prevent weeds from taking away nutrients, reasonably improve the soil structure, increase soil fertility, and promote soybean's absorption of nutrients and water.

The above is a brief introduction to soybean planting techniques. When growing soybean, field management work is very important. Therefore, we must strengthen management, improve soybean's growth capacity, increase yield, and protect our own planting returns. That is all for today's introduction.
