Detailed Guide to Enoki Mushroom Cultivation Techniques: Growing Methods and Key Management Points
Enoki mushroom (Flammulina velutipes) is a fungus-type vegetable, and it is distributed fairly widely around the world; it is a fungal food with very high dietary therapy value. However, enoki mushrooms have no chlorophyll, so they do not carry out photosynthesis, and therefore their growing techniques are also different. So if you want to grow enoki mushrooms on a large scale, how should you go about it? Below, the editor brings you the cultivation techniques for enoki mushrooms. Let's take a look!

1. Raw Material Preparation
The cultivation raw materials for enoki mushrooms are mainly various nutrients, such as wheat bran, superphosphate, corn flour, and so on. Make sure the nutrition is complete, then control the proportions well and stir them evenly; the moisture of the raw materials should be kept at around 70%. Seal them for about 3 hours, and then the bagging work can begin. When growing enoki mushrooms, the main cultivation steps are mycelium running and fruiting. So we also need to prepare a mycelium running site and a fruiting site. The mycelium running site must have good heat retention capacity and strong ventilation. The fruiting site should be kept dark, cool, and somewhat sealed.
2. Cultivation Time
When cultivating, we should make full use of natural temperature. Enoki mushrooms are suited to growing in a cool environment, and each growth stage has different temperature requirements. Therefore, when cultivating, we should do it in autumn and other seasons with suitable temperatures. In this way, natural temperature can be used to culture the mycelium. Moreover, after the mycelium matures, the temperature gradually drops, which is exactly the growth temperature for its fruiting bodies. However, when planting, we should also reasonably adjust the cultivation time according to the growing region. And in order to meet market demand for enoki mushrooms in summer, cold-storage cultivation can be carried out.
3. Timely Inoculation
Before inoculation, the plastic bags and inoculation box must be disinfected. The disinfectant is mainly potassium permanganate, and about half an hour is enough. When inoculating, be sure to follow the procedure, and after inoculation put them into the cultivation room in time. Control temperature and other environmental factors well; after about one day, the mycelium will begin to grow. Keep the temperature at around 22°C, and within about two months the bags will be full. With different inoculation times, the mycelium growth will also differ. Therefore, we should also reasonably choose the inoculation time according to the growing region and season.
4. Daily Management
During enoki mushroom cultivation, it is very easy for contaminating fungi to cause contamination, so we should pay attention to doing good work in preventing and controlling contaminating fungi. After discovering contaminating fungi, take corresponding measures in time. We should promptly scrape out the old mycelium to facilitate the growth of the enoki mushroom fruiting bodies. Then control temperature and humidity well; humidity should not be too high or too low, as too high makes contamination by contaminating fungi more likely. During the growth of enoki mushroom fruiting bodies, be careful to provide an appropriate amount of scattered light to promote the joint growth of the stipe and cap. When the stipe grows to about 16-18 cm, it can be harvested at the proper time.
The above is a brief introduction to enoki mushroom cultivation techniques. Growing fungi is rather troublesome. So before cultivating, everyone must master the cultivation techniques well to avoid planting failure. That is all for today's introduction.
