A Detailed Guide to Mung Bean Sprout Cultivation Techniques and Management Methods
Mung bean sprouts are one of the common sprouting vegetables in our daily lives. Their growth cycle is extremely short, they are relatively easy to grow, and cultivation is subject to few time constraints, requiring only suitable temperatures and growing conditions. Below, let's take a look at mung bean sprout cultivation techniques together with the editor.

1. Selecting the Bean Seeds
We can buy mung beans at the market, but before sprouting them we must first select the seeds, removing shriveled grains, insect-damaged grains, broken-split grains and other impurities. This is the first step in cultivation and affects the yield of mung bean sprouts. Then rinse the mung beans once with clean water and remove all the mung beans floating on the surface; these are some immature or insect-damaged, spoiled seeds with a low germination rate. When rinsing, in order to remove the inferior seeds, wash and turn them several times to make sure all the inferior seeds are eliminated.
2. Soaking the Seeds
After selecting the seeds, also check the appearance of the seeds. To avoid any inferior seeds still mixed in, keep the larger, plump seeds and discard the smaller ones even if they have no flaws, so as not to affect the germination rate or affect the other seeds. Soak the selected seeds at a ratio of 1:1, with the water temperature for soaking controlled at around 20 degrees, and the soaking time generally 5-7 hours. Once the seeds have absorbed enough water and have no wrinkles at all, drain off the water and prepare for sprouting.
3. Sowing
Mung bean sprouts generally rely on moisture for their growth, so during growth simply place them in a spot with plenty of moisture, covering the surface with only a thin layer of soil. When planting, it is generally done in containers; the container should not be too large, to avoid making management difficult. If planting a larger amount, you can choose several containers for planting. First spread a thin layer of soil on the bottom of the container, then put the seeds into the container and pour in enough water. There is no need for fertilizing and other operations as with other plants; they generally rely on moisture for growth.
4. Temperature Regulation
To grow mung bean sprouts well and let them grow normally, one important factor is temperature, which is extremely important for them. When the air temperature turns cold, put them in a greenhouse environment, but the temperature should not be too high either, as this is also unfavorable to their growth. The suitable temperature for freshly planted, not yet sprouted seeds is around 18 degrees; this temperature is suitable for their germination. After the seeds sprout, the temperature also needs to be raised at this point, as this is the key period of development; raise the temperature to around 23 degrees to promote their development, and at the same time pay attention to watering, as this is the period of greatest water demand.
