Many people are familiar with prepared rehmannia, but its functions and uses may not be well known to everyone. Prepared rehmannia is a processed product made from raw rehmannia; it looks like black strips, is warm in nature, and sweet in taste. Its effects are to nourish the blood and stop bleeding. It is suitable for sallow complexion, palpitations, and irregular menstruation caused by blood deficiency; soreness and weakness of the waist and knees, nocturnal emission, emaciation, and tidal fever with night sweats caused by kidney yin deficiency; and dizziness, blurred vision, tinnitus, and deafness caused by depletion of essence and blood.

It can be taken internally by decoction; 10-15 grams of prepared rehmannia is enough, with a maximum dose of 50-60 grams. A commonly used prepared rehmannia blood-nourishing soup is big bone and prepared rehmannia soup. Ingredients: 500 grams of big bone, 15-25 grams of prepared rehmannia (can be determined according to the number of people), 15-25 grams of codonopsis can be added, plus an appropriate amount of red dates and adenophora, with the amount of water adjusted as needed.

There is also angelica and prepared rehmannia chicken soup, which can be stewed. Ingredients: 500 grams of chicken, 15-25 grams of prepared rehmannia, 15-25 grams of angelica (can be determined according to the number of people), and an appropriate amount of water.

Another one is Siwu Tang. Siwu Tang is not only a commonly used formula for nourishing the blood, but also a basic formula for regulating menstruation. Ingredients: 12 grams of prepared rehmannia, 12 grams of angelica, 12 grams of white peony root, and 12 grams of chuanxiong, composed of these four medicinal herbs, and it is called "the number one formula in gynecology." However, Siwu Tang varies from person to person, and not everyone can take it, because this formula easily causes internal heat, easily causes dry mouth and tongue, and in severe cases sore throat. It is more suitable for people with blood deficiency, but the ingredients are added or reduced differently for people with different constitutions, and it must be adjusted according to a traditional Chinese medicine physician.
