Lingzhi cultivation sets growers on the road to prosperity

Xie Guoting of Baishi Village, Baishi Town, Shangshui County, became wealthy through the artificial cultivation of lingzhi (Ganoderma lucidum), earning a profit of 100,000 yuan in one year.

After being demobilized from the army in 1982, Xie Guoting engaged in individual transport for a long time. In 2001, his son, who worked in edible fungus research at a certain bioengineering company, taught him the techniques of lingzhi cultivation. In January last year, he rented 4 mu of vacant land and 17 rooms, built production sheds, and through scientific formulation, fungus preparation, inoculation, and management, successfully cultivated 2,000 fungus bags. The success of the trial planting further strengthened Xie Guoting's confidence, and he continuously expanded the scale of production. At present, the total amount of lingzhi he cultivates has reached 20,000 bags, and he has already harvested 5 flushes, making a profit of 80,000 yuan. Adding the income from selling spawn, he has made a total profit of 100,000 yuan.

Xie Guoting also actively promotes lingzhi cultivation techniques to others. Since last winter, he has successively gone to more than 100 households in 13 villages, including Jinzhuang, Zhouzhuang, Mazhuang, and Laojia, to provide guidance, helping with cultivation and providing 300,000 fungus bags, which are expected to generate an income of 1.5 million yuan.
