Storage Methods and Precautions for Angelica sinensis
Angelica sinensis contains volatile oil and is rich in sugars, making it highly prone to oil loss and moisture absorption. During storage, if the temperature is too high, the time too long, or it is exposed to air for an extended period, its oil tends to seep out, causing oily stains on the surface of the medicinal material, leading to deterioration, rot and oil loss; if the humidity is too high or the material itself has a high moisture content, it is prone to insect damage and mold. Therefore, after drying, Angelica sinensis should be stored in a dry, cool place, and disinfection work should be carried out carefully.
The stored Angelica sinensis should be clean and dry, with a moisture content below 13%, free of mold and insect damage. After sealing in double-layer plastic bags, place it in a cardboard box or wooden box for preservation. The storage location should be a high, dry, clean, well-ventilated room or warehouse, kept under conditions of low oxygen, low temperature, dryness, ventilation and protection from light. Before putting the material into storage, the storage warehouse should be thoroughly cleaned, and disinfected with formaldehyde if necessary. Angelica sinensis should not be stored for too long and should be processed and used promptly.
