Variety approval number: Guoshen Dao 980010.

Variety source: Zhenshan 97A X Duoxi No. 1.

Characteristics: a medium indica late-maturing three-line hybrid rice combination. Plant height about 110 cm, 150,000-180,000 effective panicles per mu, an average of 128 grains per panicle, seed-setting rate 88.7%, 1000-grain weight 27.2 g. Brown rice rate 81.2%, milled rice rate 73.6%, head rice rate 67.3%, gel consistency 62 mm, gelatinization temperature 4.8, good eating quality. Whole growth period 145-156 days. Cold-tolerant at the seedling stage, vigorous growth, good ripening color in the late stage, no premature senescence, strong ratooning ability. It has the characteristics of disease resistance, high yield, good quality and wide adaptability, highly resistant to rice blast, moderately susceptible to sheath blight. In 1993 and l994 it participated in the national indica hybrid rice regional trial, with yields per mu of 559.7 and 603.7 kg respectively, increasing yield by 4.3% and 3.5% compared with Shanyou 63; the two-year average yield per mu was 581.5 kg, 3.45% higher than Shanyou 63, ranking first among the tested varieties.

Cultivation points: sow at the proper time, sow thinly to raise strong seedlings, seedling age 35-45 days; field transplanting density 23.3 cm X 6.7 cm or 26.6 cm X 16.7 cm, 2 seed seedlings per hill; apply heavy basal fertilizer, apply topdressing early, and pay attention to the combined application of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.
