Detailed introduction to the rice variety Shaonuo 86
Breeding institution: Shaoxing Municipal Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Zhejiang Province.
Approval status: Recognized by the Zhejiang Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee in 1993.
Variety registration number: GS01004-1993.
Variety source: Ainuo 21/Xianghu 25.
Characteristics: A medium-maturity late japonica glutinous-type variety. Compact plant type, dark green leaf color, moderate to weak tillering. Plant height 90-95 cm, effective panicles per mu 250,000-300,000, dense-panicle type, panicle length about 15 cm, about 80 grains per panicle, 1000-grain weight 26-27 g, brown rice rate 83%, milled rice rate 75%, protein content 8.7%. The whole growth period is about 135 days. Good yielding ability, wide adaptability, excellent grain quality, tolerant of delayed transplanting, wide flexibility in seedling age, strong cold resistance at the late stage, moderately susceptible to rice blast, bacterial leaf blight, and white-backed planthopper, susceptible to brown planthopper. The average yield per mu is generally 450 kg.
Cultivation points: Sow from June 20-25 in Zhejiang, southern Anhui, and similar areas. Seeding rate per mu in the seedling bed is 30-40 kg, basic seedlings in the field are 130,000-150,000 plants, and seedling age is generally within 45 days. Apply nitrogen fertilizer in appropriate amounts in the field and increase phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. Strengthen field management and strictly prevent lodging caused by excessive nitrogen application under early planting conditions.
Suitable range: Promoted in lightly diseased rice areas of Zhejiang and Anhui Provinces.
