Variety source: Liao 30A x C272. Characteristics: This variety is a dryland-cultivated japonica-type three-line hybrid rice. In the Huang-Huai region under dry direct seeding after wheat stubble, the average whole growth period is 116 days, 6 days later maturing than the control Zhengzhou Early Japonica. Plant height is 89.7 cm, the plant type is relatively compact, tillering ability is strong, panicle length is 15.7 cm, total grains per panicle is 97.1, seed setting rate is 74.9%, and 1000-grain weight is 24.6 g. Resistance: drought resistance grade 5, rice blast grade 5, narrow brown leaf spot grade 1. Main rice quality indicators: head rice rate 66%, length-to-width ratio 1.8, chalk

Main rice quality indicators: head rice rate 66%, length-to-width ratio 1.8, chalky grain rate 15%, chalkiness degree 0.8%, gel consistency 85 mm, amylose content 15.40%.

Yield performance: In 2002, it participated in the regional trial of dryland rice in the mid-late maturity group of the Huang-Huai-Hai wheat stubble rice region, with an average yield of 292.2 kg per mu, an increase of 14.7% over the control Zhengzhou Early Japonica; in 2003, in the continued trial, the average yield was 282.5 kg per mu, an increase of 29.3% over the control Zhengzhou Early Japonica (extremely significant), and an increase of 13.9% over the control dryland rice 277 (significant). In the 2003 production trial, the average yield was 311.6 kg per mu, an increase over the control Zhengzhou Early Japonica and dryland rice 277.

Key cultivation technical points: 1. Seed treatment: sun the seeds before sowing, use seed coating agent for coating or soak the seeds with carbendazim; 2. Land preparation: choose land with irrigation conditions, level it and harrow it fine and make beds; in combination with land preparation, apply 1000 kg of farmyard manure per mu, and apply 10 kg of diammonium phosphate, 10 kg of potassium sulfate, 15 kg of ammonium sulfate, and a small amount of microfertilizer along with sowing; 3. Weed control: use herbicide to clear weeds before emergence, and after emergence use quinclorac for "stem and leaf treatment"; 4. Irrigation and topdressing: dryland rice mainly relies on natural rainfall throughout its life, but if drought occurs at key growth stages, it should be irrigated promptly. Topdressing should be chosen before irrigation or rain, and about 10 kg of ammonium sulfate should be applied as topdressing at the jointing stage and from booting to heading stage according to seedling condition; 5. Pest and disease control: pay attention to controlling rice blast and pests such as armyworm and striped stem borer.

Approval opinion: Upon review, this variety meets the national rice variety approval standards and has passed approval. This variety has moderate drought resistance, a moderate growth period, relatively high yield, is moderately susceptible to rice blast, resistant to narrow brown leaf spot, and has excellent rice quality. It is suitable for dryland cultivation after wheat stubble or rapeseed stubble in the Huang-Huai region of Henan, Shandong, Jiangsu, and Anhui.
