Maxie 63 (Rice)
Variety traits: "Maxie 63" was bred by Wuhan University and approved in 1994 by the Hubei Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee. This combination is a medium-maturing medium indica rice, with a total growth period of about 140 days. Grown as middle-season rice, its plant height is about 100 cm, it has strong tillering ability, thick and sturdy stems, is relatively tolerant to fertilizer and resistant to lodging, colors well at the late stage, and is of the medium-panicle type, with relatively high panicle formation and seed-setting rates. In artificial inoculation identification of rice blast, the number of strains and the frequency of the virulence formula were 3 and 28.6 respectively. It is not resistant to bacterial blight, and the yield per unit area is about 600 kg.
Rice quality: tested by the Testing Center of the Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the brown rice rate is 81.26%, the milled rice rate is 73.03%, the head rice rate is 61.17%, the grains are slender, with a length-to-width ratio of 3.15, the chalkiness rate is 74%, the gelatinization temperature is grade 4.5 (medium), the amylose content is 22.15% (medium), the gel consistency is 41.63 mm (medium), and the protein content is 7.66%, with a comprehensive score of 52 points. If grown as ratooning rice, the grain quality is better and the eating quality is better.
Cultivation points: closely follow the "sparse control heavy" cultivation model.
1. Sowing period. Maxie 63 has a wide range of adaptability. In most areas of our province it is grown as middle-season rice, and in southeastern Hubei and the Jianghan Plain it is grown as ratooning rice. For single-season middle-season rice, the sowing period is April 20 to May 10; for ratooning rice, March 25 to the end of March. Dry-raised seedlings are adopted, with a seedling age of about 30 days. In @#@245@#@ stubble areas, two-stage seedlings of dry-raised and water-nursed can be used.
2. Fertilization should be 7.5-10 kg of pure nitrogen per mu, with increased application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers; the ratio of basal fertilizer to topdressing is 7:3, with special emphasis on topdressing trace fertilizers such as zinc, calcium and silicon.
3. Basic seedlings. At transplanting, ensure about 100,000 per mu.
4. Reasonable irrigation, especially keeping alternating wet and dry conditions when the panicles bend down and the grains fill, and never cut off water too early, so as to ensure full ripening until old.
5. Strengthen biological control and enhance awareness of pollution-free products.
