Characteristics: This variety is an indica three-line hybrid rice. When grown as single-season mid-season rice in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the average whole growth period is 133.8 days, 1.7 days earlier than Shanyou 63 (CK). Plant height is 117.6 cm, plant type is moderate, growth vigor is luxuriant, uniformity is average, and color change at maturity is medium. The number of effective panicles per mu is 171,000, panicle length is 24 cm, total grains per panicle are 159.5, seed setting rate is 85.6%, and 1000-grain weight is 27.1 g. Resistance: rice blast grade 7, bacterial leaf blight grade 5, brown planthopper grade 9. Main rice quality indicators: head rice rate 60.5%, length-to-width ratio 2.5, chalkiness rate 93.5%, chalkiness degree 21.6%, gel consistency 48 mm, amylose content 20.9%.

Yield performance: In 2001, it participated in the regional trial of the late-maturing high-yield group of mid-season indica rice in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, with an average yield of 621.41 kg per mu, 2.43% higher than the control Shanyou 63 (highly significant); in 2002, it continued in the trial, with an average yield of 575.03 kg per mu, 3.71% higher than the control Shanyou 63 (highly significant); the two-year regional trial average yield was 597.29 kg per mu, 3.07% higher than the control Shanyou 63. In 2003, the production trial average yield was 509.84 kg per mu, 8.04% higher than the control Shanyou 63.

Key points of cultivation techniques: Cultivate strong seedlings: according to local planting habits, sow at the same time as Shanyou 63; for dry-raised seedlings in fertile fields, the sowing rate is 30 kg per mu, and for water-raised seedlings, the sowing rate is 15 kg per mu; seedling age is 30-35 days; 2. Transplanting: for high-fertility fields, the transplanting density is 30´13.3 cm, with 60,000-80,000 basic seedlings per mu; for generally fertile fields, the transplanting density is 23.3´13.3 cm, with 80,000-100,000 basic seedlings per mu; 3. Fertilizer and water management: the total nitrogen amount per mu of paddy field is 15-17 kg, and the ratio of basal-surface fertilizer, tillering fertilizer, and panicle-grain fertilizer is 6:2:2. Pay attention to supplementing phosphorus and potassium fertilizers; water management should achieve shallow-water transplanting, field exposure after establishment, moist conditions to promote tillering, timely multiple sunning of the field, maintaining a water layer at flowering, and alternate wetting and drying in the later stage to keep plants active until maturity; 4. Approval opinion: Upon review, this variety meets the national rice variety approval standards and has passed approval. This variety has a moderate maturity period, relatively high yield, is susceptible to rice blast, moderately susceptible to bacterial leaf blight, and has average rice quality. It is suitable for planting as single-season mid-season rice in Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Anhui, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu in the Yangtze River basin (except the Wuling Mountain area), as well as in lightly affected rice blast areas in southern Henan.
