Characteristics: This variety is an indica two-line hybrid rice. When grown as double-cropping late rice in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, its average whole growth period is 118.3 days, 0.3 days later than the control Shanyou 46. Plant height is 106.9 cm. The plant and leaf shape are good, the population is uniform, the flag leaves are erect, growth is luxuriant, and the panicle-grain weight is well coordinated. Cold tolerance is relatively weak. The effective panicle number per mu is 194,000 panicles, panicle length is 22.7 cm, total grains per panicle is 133.9, seed-setting rate is 73.2%, and 1000-grain weight is 26.1 g. Resistance: rice blast grade 7, bacterial leaf blight grade 5, brown

Resistance: rice blast grade 7, bacterial leaf blight grade 5, brown planthopper grade 9. Main rice quality indicators: head rice rate 57.6%, length-to-width ratio 3.0, chalkiness rate 25%, chalkiness degree 3.5%, gel consistency 87 mm, amylose content 21.5%.

Yield performance: In 2002, it entered the regional trial of the late indica medium-late maturing high-quality group in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, with an average yield of 440.15 kg per mu, 2.29% higher than the control Shanyou 46 (not significant); in the 2003 continued trial, the average yield was 468.34 kg per mu, 1.25% lower than the control Shanyou 46 (not significant); the two-year regional trial average yield was 454.25 kg per mu, 0.52% higher than the control Shanyou 46. In the 2003 production trial, the average yield was 435.98 kg per mu, 3.04% higher than the control Shanyou 46.

Key points of cultivation technology: 1. Cultivate strong seedlings: sow at the same time as Shanyou 46, with a sowing rate of 15 kg per mu, and seedling age not exceeding 35 days; 2. Transplanting: the planting spacing is 18´20 cm, with more than 100,000 basic seedlings per mu; 3. Fertilizer and water management: apply 12-15 kg of pure nitrogen, 7-8 kg of potassium oxide, and 20 kg of phosphorus pentoxide per mu. For water management, use shallow water in the early stage to promote tillering, and mainly intermittent irrigation in the later stage; never drain too early; 4. Pest and disease control: pay attention to controlling rice blast and bacterial leaf blight.

Approval opinion: After review, this variety meets the national rice variety approval standards and has passed approval. This variety has a moderate maturity period, medium yield, is susceptible to rice blast, moderately susceptible to bacterial leaf blight, and has excellent rice quality. It is suitable for planting as double-cropping late rice in central and northern Guangxi, central and northern Fujian, central and southern Jiangxi, central and southern Hunan, and southern Zhejiang in areas with light occurrence of rice blast.
