Liaojing 207 was developed by the Rice Research Institute of the Liaoning Academy of Agricultural Sciences in 1987, using 79-227 as the female parent and 83-326 as the male parent, through sexual hybridization breeding; it is a new high-yield, high-quality, disease-resistant rice variety successfully bred over 12 years. Characteristics: at the seedling stage the leaves are dark green, the seedlings are robust, after transplanting they recover quickly, tillering ability is strong, the plant type is compact, the leaves are erect, the stems are thick and strong, plant height is 95 cm, panicle length is 18.6 cm, the panicle-forming rate is relatively high, the number of filled grains per panicle is about 90, and the seed-setting rate is 86%-90%

Characteristics: at the seedling stage the leaves are dark green, the seedlings are robust, after transplanting they recover quickly, tillering ability is strong, the plant type is compact, the leaves are erect, the stems are thick and strong, plant height is 95 cm, panicle length is 18.6 cm, the panicle-forming rate is relatively high, the number of filled grains per panicle is about 90, the seed-setting rate is 86%-90%, the 1000-grain weight is 25.8 g, the grains are oval, awnless, and the glumes are yellow-white. The growth period is 152-155 d. It matures with green stems, is not prone to premature senescence, is tolerant to fertilizer, resistant to lodging, and disease-resistant. According to disease resistance identification by the China National Rice Research Institute, leaf blast is grade 2.3, neck blast is grade 2.2, and the disease resistance rating is R. It is moderately resistant to stripe disease, and rice false smut and sheath blight are relatively mild. According to rice quality testing and analysis by the China National Rice Research Institute, the brown rice rate is 83.49%, the milled rice rate is 76.78%, the head rice rate is 71.03%, the chalkiness rate is 14%, the transparency is grade 1, the gelatinization temperature is grade 7, the gel consistency is 70 mm, the amylose content is 17%, and the protein content is 8.5%; the overall assessment is excellent rice quality.

Yield performance: since 1992, after many consecutive years of multiple trials at multiple sites, the average yield per 667 sq m was 601.7 kg, an increase of 11.6% over the control variety. In trial planting, demonstration and extension, a number of high-yield examples appeared, such as Wangqizhai Village, Guchengzi Township, Dongling District, Shenyang, where in a relatively large-area high-yield field, the highest record of an average yield of 877.2 kg per 667 sq m was created.

Regions and techniques 1. Carefully select good seed: before sowing, remove broken grains, small grains, shriveled grains, diseased grains and various impurities, and dry them thoroughly in the sun so that both the germination rate and purity reach above 98%. 2. Cultivate strong seedlings: before sowing, strictly disinfect the seeds to prevent the occurrence and spread of bakanae disease. Use insulated dry seedling raising, sow in early April, with a sowing rate of 150-200 g per sq m. After emergence, ventilate and harden the seedlings at the appropriate time to prevent the occurrence and damage of damping-off and bacterial wilt. 3. Moderate sparse planting: on the basis of cultivating strong seedlings with tillers, transplant in late May to early June, with a row spacing of 30 cm and a plant spacing of 13 cm, planting 3-4 seedlings per hill, ensuring no missing hills, no missing seedlings, and no floating seedlings, so as to ensure transplanting quality. 4. Scientific fertilization: implement formula fertilization and whole-layer fertilization, with heavier application early and lighter later, for steady promotion. Apply 2000-3000 kg of high-quality farmyard manure, 20 kg of ammonium sulfate, 10 kg of diammonium phosphate, and 50 kg of superphosphate per 667 sq m as base fertilizer; at the beginning of tillering and the peak tillering stage, topdress with 15-20 kg of ammonium sulfate respectively, and at the meiosis stage topdress with 5-7 kg of ammonium sulfate. 5. Reasonable irrigation: during the growth period, adopt an alternating irrigation method combining shallow water, moist conditions, and drying, and avoid long-term deep-water flooding. If growth is too luxuriant, appropriately dry the field at the late tillering stage, which can prevent delayed maturity due to excessive vegetative growth and the occurrence of rice false smut. Do not cut off water too early in the late growth period, to prevent premature senescence and yield reduction. However, drainage should be carried out about 10 d before harvest. 6. Timely control of pests and diseases: from late June to early July, use 0.25 bottle of Daofengling or Shachongshuang aqueous solution, diluted with 10 kg of water, and spray to control the striped stem borer. 5-7 d before heading, use 0.3 kg of copper ammonium complex per 667 sq m, diluted with 15 kg of water; or use 200 g of DT powder, diluted with 10 kg of water, and spray to control rice false smut.

This variety has strong adaptability and is not only suitable for planting in most areas of Liaoning Province, but can also be cultivated in North China, Northwest China, Southwest China, Central China and East China.
