Detailed Explanation of Key Cultivation Techniques for Liangyou Peijiu Rice
Liangyou Peijiu is a two-line high-yield hybrid mid-season rice variety bred by the Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and was approved by the Hubei Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee in 2001. This variety has a compact plant type, hard stems, dark green leaves, and erect flag leaves. The panicle is spindle-shaped, with large panicles and many grains, and grains are densely set. The grains are medium-long, with a high seed-setting rate and a relatively low 1000-grain weight. Grain quality is relatively good. It shows an obvious two-stage grain-filling phenomenon, and color conversion at the late stage is average. The whole growth period is about 139 days, 3-4 days longer than Shanyou 63. It is moderately susceptible to bacterial leaf blight and highly susceptible to panicle neck blast. It is moderately affected by sheath blight. When heading and flowering encounter overcast and rainy weather, rice false smut and rice kernel smut become severe.
Key cultivation points:
1. Sow early at the right time and cultivate strong seedlings with multiple tillers. The sowing date should be no later than May 15. The seeding rate in the seedling field is about 7.5 kg per mu, and the seed rate for the main field is about 1.5 kg per mu. Before sowing, soak the seeds with strong chlorine preparation, and at the two-leaf-one-heart stage treat with paclobutrazol to cultivate strong seedlings with multiple tillers.
2. Reasonable sparse planting. Plant 15,000-18,000 hills per mu in the main field, using wide-row narrow-spacing cultivation, with a hill-to-row spacing of 4 x 8 cun or 5 x 7 cun, planting 2-3 grain seedlings per hill, and transplanting about 70,000 basic seedlings per mu.
