Characteristics: A conventional japonica rice variety. Plant height about 100 cm, leaves slightly long, leaf color moderate, plant type moderately compact, strong tillering ability, panicles rather large. Average number of grains per panicle about 100, green stems and yellow ripening, panicle length about 19 cm, total number of grains per panicle 96.6, seed setting rate 82.9%, 1000-grain weight 25.7 g, grain elliptical, with sparse awns, glumes and glume tips yellow. Head rice rate 61.8%, chalkiness degree 9.2%, chalkiness rate 66%, gel consistency 84 mm, amylose content 18.6%. The whole growth period is 147 days, 4 days later maturing than the control variety Jiyujing. Good yielding ability and yield stability, relatively weak resistance to rice blast, medium grain quality. In 1998 it participated in the national northern rice regional trial, with an average yield of 587 kg per mu, 9.9% higher than the control Jiyujing; in the 1999 continuation trial, the average yield was 633.2 kg per mu, 4.0% higher than the control Jiyujing; in the 1999 production trial, the average yield was 631 kg per mu, 11.1% higher than the control Jiyujing.

Cultivation points: Adopt the technique of sparse sowing for strong seedlings; sow 60 g of germinated seed per tray for tray seedling raising, and sow 200 g of germinated seed per sq m for dry seedling raising; transplanting spacing is generally 30 cm x 16.5 cm or 30 cm x 20 cm, with 3-4 plants per hill. On the basis of increased phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, generally apply 10-11 kg of pure nitrogen per mu, which can be applied as basal fertilizer, tillering fertilizer, supplementary fertilizer, and panicle fertilizer. Water management should mainly be shallow irrigation, combining dry and wet conditions. During the entire growth period, pay attention to the control of diseases, insects, weeds, and rodents.

Suitable range: Jilin, Liaoning, Heilongjiang, **areas with effective active accumulated temperature above 2850°C and light occurrence of rice blast.
