Jinggang Dry Rice No. 1 (formerly known as: 1587 Rice)
Variety origin: Radiation-induced mutation of Brazilian upland rice (IAPAR9)
Characteristics: This variety is an indica-type conventional upland rice. When grown as dryland rice in the mid-season rice region of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the average whole growth period is 95.4 days, 14.1 days earlier than the control Brazilian upland rice. Plant height is 92.9 cm, the plant is compact, the plant and leaf type is good, the flag leaf is erect, threshing is difficult, and color change at later stages is average. The number of effective panicles per mu is 178,000, panicle length is 21.8 cm, total grains per panicle is 128.4, seed setting rate is 77.8%, and 1000-grain weight is 24.3 g. Resistance: drought resistance grade 5, rice blast grade 9, bacterial blight grade 9. Main rice quality indicators: head rice rate 58.0%, length-to-width ratio 3.3, chalkiness rate 20.0%, chalkiness degree 1.7%, gel consistency 76.5 mm, amylose content 15.2%.
Yield performance: In 2002, it participated in the regional trial of upland rice in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, with an average yield of 355.83 kg per mu, an increase of 37.95% over the control Brazilian upland rice "IAPAR9" (extremely significant); in 2003, in the continued trial, the average yield was 305.39 kg per mu, an increase of 30.55% over the control Brazilian upland rice "IAPAR9" (extremely significant); the two-year regional trial average yield was 326.62 kg per mu, an increase of 33.84% over the control Brazilian upland rice "IAPAR9". In the 2003 production trial, the average yield was 235.16 kg per mu, an increase over Brazilian upland rice "IAPAR9".
Key points of cultivation technology: 1. Land preparation: apply sufficient base fertilizer, carry out intensive cultivation, make beds and level them, and ensure convenient irrigation and drainage; 2. Sowing: drill sowing or hill sowing, and after sowing irrigate thoroughly to ensure full and uniform seedlings; 3. Fertilization: when the seedlings reach the two-leaf-one-heart stage, choose after rain to apply 10 kg of urea and 5 kg of potassium chloride to promote tillering and strengthen stems; 4. Weed control: spray herbicide for weed control before sowing, and weed control 1-2 more times after emergence; 5. Pest and disease control: pay special attention to the control of rice blast and bacterial blight.
Approval opinion: Upon review, this variety meets the national rice variety approval standards and has passed approval. This variety has moderate drought resistance, early maturity, wide adaptability, high yield, is susceptible to rice blast, highly susceptible to bacterial blight, and has excellent rice quality. It is suitable for dryland cultivation as mid-season rice in lightly affected areas of rice blast and bacterial blight in northern Fujian, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Hubei, south-central Jiangsu, and south-central Anhui.
