Introduction to the Characteristics and Traits of the Jiyujing Rice Variety
Jiyujing is a new early japonica conventional rice variety bred by the Rice Research Institute of the Jilin Academy of Agricultural Sciences from Hui 73/Qiuguang.<培育者>=Rice Research Institute of the Jilin Academy of Agricultural Sciences
Characteristics and Traits This variety has the following features:
1. It has good biological traits. The growth period is 135 days, requiring an effective accumulated temperature of about 2750°C, and it is insensitive to photoperiod and temperature responses. The plant height is 95-100 cm, the plant type is compact, the leaves are erect, and the leaf sheath, leaf margin, and leaf collar are all green. It has strong tillering ability, with more than 20 tillers per single transplanted seedling. The panicle is relatively large, with an average of about 100 grains per panicle, moderate grain density, and a seed-setting rate of more than 90%. The grain shape is oval, the glume and glume tip are both yellow, awnless, and the 1000-grain weight is 25 g.
2. High and stable yield. From 1993 to 1995, it participated in the Jilin Province regional trial, with an average yield of 530.2 kg per mu, 6.2% higher than the control Tengxi 138; from 1994 to 1995, it participated in the provincial production trial, with an average yield of 467.9 kg per mu, 7.5% higher than the control Tengxi 138.
3. Strong resistance, especially outstanding resistance to rice blast. Through years of inoculation identification with different fungal strains by the Institute of Plant Protection of the Jilin Academy of Agricultural Sciences and multi-year, multi-site natural induction identification, it is resistant to seedling, leaf, and panicle blast, with strong and stable disease resistance, and tolerance to salinity and alkalinity. After transplanting, it turns green quickly, grows and develops early and rapidly, has strong and tough stems and resistance to lodging, fills quickly after heading, remains green with green stems and leaves without premature senescence, and matures with living stems.
4. Excellent rice quality. According to measurements by the Grain Chemistry Laboratory of the China National Rice Research Institute, the brown rice rate is 83.74%, the milled rice rate is 75.74%, the head rice rate is 69.84%, transparency is grade 1, grain length is 4.72 mm, length-to-width ratio is 1.64, chalkiness rate is 7.0%, chalkiness degree is 12.5%, gelatinization temperature is grade 7, gel consistency is 60.0 mm, amylose content is 18.77%, and protein content is 9.93%. Among these, 7 indicators reach the first-grade standard for high-quality rice, and 2 indicators reach the second-grade standard for high-quality rice.
5. Relatively wide adaptability. Jiyujing is suitable for cultivation in the medium-maturity rice-growing area of Jilin Province, northern Liaoning, southern Heilongjiang, and the Zhelimu League of Inner Mongolia and other rice areas in Northeast China. In 1996, the promoted area in Jilin Province reached 1.617 million mu, ranking first among varieties planted in the province and accounting for more than about 40% of the suitable cultivation area. It has now become one of the main varieties in production, with a cumulative promoted area of 4.27 million mu and economic benefits of 420 million yuan. The promoted area is expected to reach 5 million mu.
Regional and Technical Cultivation Regulations:
Yield target: 570-600 kg per mu. Yield components: 16-20 hills per square meter, 400-500 effective panicles, 85-90 filled grains per panicle, and 1000-grain weight 25 g. Main growth periods: sowing period April 10-15, transplanting period May 15-20, heading period July 25-30, and maturity period September 20-25.
1. Sparse sowing to raise strong seedlings. Before sowing, disinfect the seeds strictly with a seed soaking agent to prevent the occurrence of bakanae disease. Use dry seedling raising, with a sowing rate of 150-200 g of germinated seeds per square meter. After emergence, ventilate and harden in good time to prevent damping-off disease.
2. Timely transplanting. On the basis of cultivating strong seedlings, transplant in mid-May, with row and hill spacing of 30 cm x 17-20 cm, 3-4 seedlings per hill, ensuring transplanting quality.
3. Rational fertilization. Advocate increasing the application of farmyard manure, with a rate of 1000-1300 kg per mu, and apply 7.5-10 kg of pure nitrogen, 5-7 kg of phosphorus pentoxide, and 6-7 kg of potassium oxide per mu.
4. Scientific irrigation. It is required to transplant in shallow water, recover with one-cun water, tiller in shallow water, drain the field appropriately at the end of effective tillering, protect the young panicle with deep water, use intermittent irrigation after flowering, and do not cut off water too early at the end of the growth period to prevent premature senescence.
5. Integrated control of diseases, insects, and weeds. Disease prevention: 5-7 days before heading, use Luomaitong or DT fungicide to control rice false smut, and use Fuji No. 1 emulsifiable concentrate, etc., to control rice blast; panicle neck blast should be controlled 2 times (once before and once after heading). Insect control: in early to mid-June, during the peak egg-laying period of leaf miner adults, apply 5% phorate 0.5 kg per mu mixed with 20 kg of fine sand; from July 10-20, when the striped stem borer bores into rice stems, apply Shachongshuang for control. Weed control: 5-7 days after transplanting, use butachlor and Caokexing, etc., to control barnyardgrass, and maintain a water layer for 5-7 days after application.
