New rice varieties hit the market: Jiangsu Mingtian Seed Industry launches new varieties

Nanjing 44, formerly known as "Ning 4009", is an early-maturing late japonica rice variety systematically bred from Nanjing 38 by the Institute of Food Crops, Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and was developed in 2004. It is suitable for planting under medium-to-high fertility conditions in the areas along the Yangtze River and southern Jiangsu. From 2005 to 2006, it participated in the Jiangsu provincial regional trial. The two-year average yield per mu was 588.1 kg, and the 2006 production trial average yield per mu was 621.9 kg, an increase of 7.1% over the control. The number of effective panicles per mu is about 190,000, the number of filled grains per panicle is about 130, the seed-setting rate is about 90%, and the 1000-grain weight is about 25 g. The plant height is about 100 cm, and the whole growth period is about 158 days. The plant type is compact, the growth vigor is relatively strong, the panicle type is medium, the tillering ability is relatively strong, the leaf color is light green, the population uniformity is good, the late-stage ripening color is good, and the lodging resistance is strong. The field planting evaluation results from 2005 to 2006 showed resistance to stripe leaf blight. According to the quality test by the Food Quality Inspection Center of the Ministry of Agriculture in 2006, the head rice rate was 62.0%, the chalky grain rate was 28.0%, the chalkiness degree was 2.2%, the gel consistency was 78.0 mm, and the amylose content was 15.5%. The physicochemical quality indicators reached the national standard third-grade high-quality rice standard, and the palatability is good.

Xudao 4: This variety is a new medium japonica rice variety with high quality, high yield and high resistance bred by the Xuzhou Institute of Agricultural Sciences in Jiangsu. It passed variety approval in Shandong Province in March 2004. In 2006, it passed introduction approval in Jiangsu Province. It has obtained national new plant variety protection rights, with the authorization announcement as: CAN001205G. The whole growth period of this variety is 145-155 days, the plant height is 95 cm, the plant type is moderately compact and loose, the stem elasticity is good, the fertilizer tolerance and lodging resistance are strong, the leaf color is relatively dark, the flag leaf is erect, and the growth is neat and clean, with relatively strong tillering ability. The panicle-setting rate is high, generally 200,000-220,000 panicles per mu, the total number of grains per panicle is about 130, the seed-setting rate is above 90%, the 1000-grain weight is 26 g, the late-stage color change is good, the grains are plump, and the ripening appearance is good. In 2003, tested by the Rice and Rice Products Inspection Center of the Ministry of Agriculture: the brown rice rate was 85.1%, and the protein content was 9.2%. Of the 12 physicochemical indicators, 9 reached the first-grade rice standard and 1 reached the second-grade rice standard. The rice quality is relatively good, and both the eating quality and taste are excellent. According to resistance identification by the China National Rice Research Institute: moderately resistant to seedling blast, resistant to panicle neck blast and bacterial leaf blight, and lightly affected by sheath blight. Large-scale planting showed high resistance to stripe leaf blight.

Lianjing 4: Lianjing 4 is a new medium-maturing medium japonica rice line. After two consecutive years of multi-site trials, it showed high yield, stable yield, excellent rice quality and good resistance, especially high resistance to stripe leaf blight. It has applied for national agricultural plant variety protection and is exclusively licensed for permanent implementation by Jiangsu Mingtian Seed Industry. In the Huaibei region, the whole growth period of this line is about 155 days, 3 days later than Zhendao 88, the plant height is about 100 cm, the plant type is moderately compact and loose, the leaf posture is erect, the population uniformity is good, and the color change at maturity is good; the tillering ability is strong, the panicle-setting rate is high, the number of effective panicles per mu is 220,000, the total number of grains per panicle is 123.7, the seed-setting rate is about 90%, the 1000-grain weight is 26 g, and the lodging resistance is strong. The brown rice rate is 82.5%, the chalky grain rate is 12.5%, the chalkiness degree is 0.4%, the gel consistency is 85%, and the rice quality is excellent. Resistant to stripe leaf blight and bacterial leaf blight, and lightly affected by sheath blight. In the 2003 trial planting, the average yield per mu was 658 kg, and the high-yield field reached 702 kg, an increase of 6.3% over the control Zaofeng No. 9. In 2004, it participated in the provincial medium-maturing medium japonica preliminary trial, with an average yield per mu of 670.5 kg, an increase of 3.82% over the control Zhendao 88, ranking first.
