Introduction to the Characteristics of the Jiangyou 151 Rice Variety

(1) Variety source: Developed by Jiangyou City Seed Company in 1992 by crossing the self-bred male-sterile line "Jiangyu 113A" with the self-bred restorer line "Jianghui 151".

(2) Characteristics: This combination is a medium-maturing late indica hybrid rice, with a full growth period of 148.0 days, 0.7 days earlier than the control Shanyou 63, plant height 105.8 cm, relatively compact plant type, good luxuriance, neat panicle layer, thick and lodging-resistant stems, 180,000 effective panicles per mu, 131.3 grains per panicle, seed-setting rate 87.43%, 1000-grain weight 30.9 g, long-grain type. Brown rice rate 80.6%, milled rice rate 69.0%, head rice rate 34.7%, processing and appearance quality similar to the control, eating quality slightly lower than the control. Provincial regional trial blast resistance identification: leaf blast grade 1-7, neck blast grade 0-7, resistance superior to the control Shanyou 63.

(3) Yield performance: In the 1993 and 1994 provincial regional trials, the average yield per mu was 537.25 kg, 1.43% higher than the control Shanyou 63. In the 1995 provincial production trial, the average yield per mu across 6 test sites was 596.96 kg, 5.82% higher than the control Shanyou 63. From 1994 to 1995, over 10,000 mu were planted in demonstration fields in Jiangyou City and Suining City, yielding about 5% more than the neighboring fields of Shanyou 63.

(4) Suitable planting areas: Suitable for planting in combination with areas where Shanyou 63 is grown, especially in the high-fertility and high-water areas of northwestern Sichuan, where high yields are easily obtained.
