Introduction to the Characteristics and Traits of the Jinyou 71 Rice Variety
Jinyou 71 (rice)
Variety source: A hybrid early rice combination developed by the China Rice Research Institute by crossing 23A/R71.
Characteristics and traits: The whole growth period is about 111.0 days, about 4.0 days earlier maturing than Jinyou 402. Plant height is 88.0 cm, plant type is compact, tillering ability is strong, effective panicles are numerous, panicle type is somewhat small, and color retention at the late stage is good. Effective panicles per mu are 259,000. Panicle length is 18.9 cm, total grains per panicle are 94.0, seed setting rate is 80.4%, and 1000-grain weight is 25.3 g. Brown rice rate is 81.4%, milled rice rate is 72.4%, head rice rate is 28.9%, grain length is 6.8 mm, length-to-width ratio is 3.4, chalky grain rate is 83.5%, chalkiness degree is 20.5%, and transparency is grade 3. Gelatinization temperature is grade 4.7, gel consistency is 50.0 mm, amylose content is 18.2%, leaf blast is grade 7, and panicle blast is grade 9.
Yield performance: Under normal field conditions, the average yield per mu is 400-450 kg.
Key points of cultivation techniques: Sow at the appropriate time and cultivate strong seedlings; transplant enough basic seedlings, about 25,000 hills per mu, with 100,000 basic seedlings per mu; apply sufficient basal fertilizer, and apply topdressing early and heavily to promote early development; apply 25 kg of ammonium bicarbonate and 25 kg of superphosphate per mu as basal fertilizer; 60% of the topdressing should be applied within 7 days after transplanting to compensate for the contradiction between the short growth period of Jinyou 71 and insufficient effective panicles, and apply less nitrogen fertilizer at the late stage. Pay attention to the prevention and control of rice blast.
