Jindao 1187 Rice Variety Introduction

Approval status: approved by the Tianjin Crop Variety Approval Committee in 1987, recognized by the Hebei Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee in 1992, and approved by the National Crop Variety Approval Committee in 1993.

Variety source: 73-113/Tainan 3.

Characteristics: a medium-late maturing japonica rice variety. Plant height about 110 cm, compact plant type, erect leaves, medium tillering ability, stiff stems and lodging resistance. Awnless, 90 grains per panicle, 1000-grain weight 27 g, seed-setting rate 95%, brown rice rate 83.12%, milled rice rate 73.3%, amylose 18.73%, chalkiness grade 0.3, good eating quality, medium grain quality, grains large and uniform. Whole growth period about 165 days. Moderately resistant to rice blast, tolerant to salinity and alkalinity, relatively strong drought tolerance, good yellowing, green-stem maturity, wide adaptability. Average yield about 500 kg per mu.

Cultivation points: apply sufficient basal fertilizer, and topdress and irrigate steadily. Density spacing 27 cm x 12 cm or 27 cm x 15 cm, 3-5 seedlings per hill, thinner planting at high fertility. Treat seed with chemicals before sowing to control white-tip nematode and bakanae disease.

Suitable range: the Beijing, Tianjin and Tangshan area for single-season spring rice planting.
