What are the methods for selecting Gastrodia elata fungus strains and Gastrodia elata seeds?
1. Armillaria mellea: Some Armillaria mellea varieties are high-yielding and high-quality, while some varieties instead harm and feed on Gastrodia elata, so farmers must be cautious when introducing strains. Our company promotes the Armillaria mellea a-9 variety, selected by the Institute of Medicinal Plant Development, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, from numerous varieties at home and abroad. Large-scale application and promotion have shown that this variety has strong vitality, dense branching, a high colonization rate, high yield, and high quality, making it the preferred superior variety for cultivating Gastrodia elata.
2. Germination fungus: The germination of Gastrodia elata seeds must rely on the infection of the embryo by fungal hyphae of a Mycena species to provide nutrients. Our company strongly promotes the germination fungus Mycena dendrobii variety, whose germination rate is as high as 85%. The germinated protocorms are large, and after being inoculated with excellent Armillaria mellea, a high yield of 4-8 kg per sq m can be obtained in the same year. (On August 2 and 3, 2001, CCTV Channel 7's "Science and Technology Garden" specially featured these two varieties.
3. For Gastrodia elata seeds, choose the white and rice-sized corms from the first and second generations of sexual crossbreeding that grow robustly, have normal color, and show no mechanical damage or pests and diseases; these are the best.
