"Cooperative 88" was developed by the Tuber Crops Research Institute of Yunnan Normal University and the Huize County Agricultural Technology Center through single-plant selection in Huize in 1990, using 42 cross combinations provided by the International Potato Center. It passed the provincial regional trial in 1994, was approved at an expert appraisal meeting in 1995, and entered the agricultural extension system of Yunnan Province. In 2001, it passed the approval of the Yunnan Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee and was named Dian Potato No. 4. Characteristics: "Cooperative 88" has an erect plant type, dark green leaves, green-purple stems, and large compound leaves

Characteristics: "Cooperative 88" has an erect plant type, dark green leaves, green-purple stems, and large compound leaves, with 3 to 4 pairs of small lateral leaflets arranged densely. It has purple flowers and weak natural fruit-setting ability. The plant height is about 93 cm, and the stem diameter is about 3 cm. The growth period is about 130 days, and it is a medium-late maturing variety. Tuber set is concentrated, and the marketable tuber rate is high. The tuber shape is long oval, with red skin and yellow flesh, smooth skin, and few shallow eyes. It has a long dormancy period, a slightly fragrant taste when steamed or boiled, and relatively good palatability. The dry matter content is 25.8%, the starch content is 19.9%, and the reducing sugar content is 0.296%. This variety is moderately resistant to late blight. Planting in old epidemic areas of potato wart disease in Yunnan Province, such as Dashanbao in Zhaotong, Zhuanshanbao in Xinjie, Ludian, Manan Township in Yongshan County, and Jinyuan Township in Xundian County, showed that "Cooperative 88" is highly resistant to potato wart disease.

Cultivation points: This variety is a typical short-day variety. It cannot emerge normally in spring when day length gradually increases, showing late maturity, and is only suitable for main-season spring planting in single-season spring potato growing areas. This variety has a relatively high fertilizer requirement. To fully realize its yield-increasing potential, it is advisable to choose land with medium to high fertility when planting. Farmyard manure should be the main fertilizer, with heavy application of basal fertilizer, supplemented by a small amount of phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer before row closure. Whole-tuber sowing should be adopted, and the sowing density should preferably be 3000 to 3500 plants per mu.
