Detailed Introduction to the Plateau Japonica 2 Rice Variety
(1) Variety source: Plateau Japonica 2 is a new high-cold japonica rice variety bred by the Yanyuan County Seed Station through systematic selection from the cross-breeding material 7801-10-2.
(2) Characteristics: This variety has a compact plant type, is tolerant to fertilizer and resistant to lodging, and has green leaves. It has strong tillering ability; the whole growth period is 186-190 days, 5-7 days later maturing than the control Japonica 9. The plant height is about 100 cm, the effective panicles per mu are 260,000-290,000, the panicle length is 19 cm, the number of grains per panicle is 108, the seed setting rate is about 73%, the brown rice rate is 82.95%, the milled rice rate is 72.5%, the chalkiness is relatively small, the amylose content is 20.5%, and the gel consistency is 33 mm.
(3) Yield performance: Yield performance: It participated in the Liangshan Prefecture regional trial from 1993 to 1994, with a two-year average yield of 420.63 kg per mu, an increase of 20.74% over the control Japonica 9. In the production trials from 1992 to 1997, the yield per mu was 411-588 kg, an increase of X.71-45.9% over the control.
(4) Cultivation key points: Sow at the appropriate early time, plant 150,000-180,000 basic seedlings per mu, and pay attention to controlling rice blast and bakanae disease.
(5) Suitable planting areas: Suitable for planting in non-rice-blast areas of high-cold mountainous regions above 2000 m altitude in Liangshan Prefecture.
