It is a new type of hybrid rice with health benefits bred by the Huang Family Rice Research Institute in 2002. At the First International Rice Congress, this rice attracted the attention and praise of Chinese and foreign rice experts and scholars for its unique aroma. According to tests by the Rice and Rice Products Quality Supervision, Inspection and Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Autonomous Region Analysis and Testing Research Center, Betel Nut Red aromatic rice contains a variety of medicinal components with health benefits for the human body, and the content of each health-related medicinal component is higher than that of ordinary rice. In particular, the content of vitamin E, flavonoids, beta-carotene, linolenic acid, and linoleic acid is more than 1 times higher than that of ordinary rice, and dietary fiber is more than 50% higher. Betel Nut Red aromatic rice products are divided into types A, B, and C. Type A is medicinal whole-nutrient brown rice; type B is semi-brown rice, suitable for the elderly, the frail, and surgical patients to cook as congee, and is also beneficial for promoting good health when eaten by middle-aged and elderly people, pregnant and postpartum women, and young children; type C is milled rice. Betel Nut Red aromatic rice is also an excellent raw material for making various kinds of eight-treasure congee, and its variety has applied for national plant variety right patent protection.
