Guodao 1 (formerly known as Zhongyou 6) (rice)
Characteristics: This variety is an indica three-line hybrid rice. Grown as a double-cropping late rice in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, its average whole growth period is 120.6 days, 2.6 days later maturing than the control Shanyou 46. Plant height is 107.8 cm, with thick culms, a moderate plant type, and vigorous growth; the flag leaves are relatively drooping. The number of effective panicles per mu is 178,000, panicle length is 25.6 cm, total grains per panicle is 142.0, seed-setting rate is 73.5%, and 1000-grain weight is 27.9 g. Resistance: rice blast grade 9, bacterial leaf blight grade 7, brown planthopper grade 9. Main grain quality indicators: head rice rate 55.9%, length-to-width ratio 3.4, chalkiness rate 21%, chalkiness degree 3.4%, gel consistency 64 mm, amylose content 21.2%.
Yield performance: In 2002, it participated in the regional trial of the late indica medium-late maturity high-quality group in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, with an average yield of 446.52 kg per mu, 3.77% higher than the control Shanyou 46 (highly significant); in the 2003 continued trial, the average yield was 469.91 kg per mu, 0.92% lower than the control Shanyou 46 (not significant); the two-year regional trial average yield was 458.22 kg per mu, 1.43% higher than the control Shanyou 46. In the 2003 production trial, the average yield was 433.60 kg per mu, 1.76% higher than the control Shanyou 46.
Key cultivation techniques: 1. Raise strong seedlings: sow at the same time as Shanyou 46 according to local planting practices, with a seeding rate of 6 kg per mu in the seedling bed and a seedling age within 30 days; 2. Transplanting: transplant more than 13,000 hills per mu, with 60,000-70,000 basic seedlings per mu; 3. Fertilization: increase organic fertilizer, apply heavy base fertilizer, apply topdressing early, and apply panicle fertilizer skillfully; use 50 kg per mu of rice-specific fertilizer as base fertilizer, and apply 7.5 kg of urea as topdressing within 10 days after transplanting; 4. Water management: deep water for greening, shallow water to promote tillering, timely sunning of the field, multiple light sunnings, shallow water during booting, keep water during flowering, prevent cutting off water too early, and prevent premature senescence; 5. Pest and disease control: pay special attention to controlling rice blast, and pay attention to controlling bacterial leaf blight.
Approval opinion: Upon review, this variety meets the national rice variety approval standards and has passed approval. This variety has a moderate maturity period, medium yield, is highly susceptible to rice blast, susceptible to bacterial leaf blight, and has excellent grain quality. It is suitable for planting as double-cropping late rice in areas with light occurrence of rice blast and bacterial leaf blight in central and northern Guangxi, central and northern Fujian, central and southern Jiangxi, central and southern Hunan, and southern Zhejiang.
