Heiyou No.1 (Rice)

(1) Variety source: This is a new medium indica late-maturing black rice hybrid combination developed by the Chengdu Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, using Zhenshan 97A as the female parent and the black rice restorer line 3350 (Shaanxi Yangxian 1 black rice / Dianrui 499) as the male parent.

(2) Characteristics: The full growth period is 156.1 days, 5.3 days longer than the control Shanyou 63. Plant height is 109.9 cm, with strong tillering ability and vigorous growth. Average grains per panicle is 166.8, seed setting rate is 76%, 1000-grain weight is 26.1 g, brown rice rate is 77.8%. The brown rice is purple-black, and the appearance quality is above average. In the rice blast resistance evaluation, leaf blast was grade 6-8 and neck blast was grade 7.

(3) Yield performance: In the 1995 provincial regional trial premium rice group test, the average yield across 18 sites was 475.0 kg per mu, 15.0% lower than the control Shanyou 63. In the 1996 production trial, the average yield across 5 trial sites was 506.4 kg per mu, 13.05% lower than Youshan 63.

(4) Heiyou No.1 is the first black rice hybrid bred within the province, with a yield increase of more than 100 kg per mu compared with conventional black rice, and it has good economic benefits and prospects for development and utilization.
