Cultivation Methods for Gastrodia elata Under Different Temperature Conditions
The conditions required by Gastrodia elata and Armillaria mellea are mainly temperature. It can grow and develop normally under conditions of 2-28°C. How to control this condition is the most important factor in whether Gastrodia elata production succeeds or fails. Temperatures across the country can be broadly divided into three major types:
(1) Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Qinghai, **. In these areas, it must be ensured that the seedlings do not freeze in winter, and in summer there is no need to consider the effect of high temperatures on the growth of Gastrodia elata. The best plan is: plant Gastrodia elata indoors, with slight heating in winter, so that the indoor space does not freeze. For outdoor cultivation of Gastrodia elata, the main measures are adding cold protection materials, or planting in spring and harvesting in autumn.
(2) Shandong, Hebei, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Hubei, Anhui, Jiangsu and Henan. In these areas, in addition to freeze protection, heat protection is also needed. The best plan is: plant in a well-ventilated indoor space, and in summer spray water to lower the temperature. In factory production, air conditioning or ice blocks can be used to lower the temperature; in winter, keeping the indoor temperature at 2°C is sufficient.
(3) Hunan, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Guangxi, Sichuan and other places. The main consideration is how to lower the temperature. Air-raid shelters, mountain caves, and high-mountain dense forests should be fully utilized. For factory production, air conditioning can be used. In short, every effort should be made to ensure that the indoor temperature does not exceed 28°C in summer and does not freeze in winter.
