Introduction to the Characteristics of the Chuanyu 56 Potato Variety
Variety source: This variety was developed by the Crop Research Institute of the Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences through crossbreeding, using potato 36-150 as the female parent and "Yanzi" as the male parent.
Characteristics: This variety is early-maturing, with a total growth period of about 105 days. It has a short dormancy period and good yield potential. The plant is short and spreading in form, with a plant height of about 50 cm. The compound leaves are relatively large, with 4 pairs of lateral leaflets arranged fairly tightly, and few leaf ears. The corolla is white, with a yellow-green star-shaped color wheel inside; the inflorescence is a compound dichasium, with 4-6 flowers per inflorescence, up to a maximum of 13. It flowers sparsely but produces abundant pollen, and the stems are thick and sturdy, making it suitable for intercropping and relay intercropping. The tubers are large and oval-shaped, with yellow skin and yellow flesh, relatively shallow eyes, and eating quality superior to "Yibujia".
Suitable regions and yield levels: Suitable for cultivation in the mountainous and semi-mountainous areas of our city, and suitable for intercropping and relay intercropping with corn. In large-scale demonstration planting, the yield per mu reaches more than 1000-2000 kg.
Key cultivation points:
Because this variety has a relatively short dormancy period, it is best to use autumn planting with seed renewal. When autumn potatoes are planted in spring, sprouting treatment is required. In areas with bacterial wilt, rotation and cultivation should be adopted. Carefully select seed potatoes and plant whole tubers. For cut-seed cultivation, the cutting knife must be strictly disinfected. For spring potatoes, sow from early to mid-February to early March. For autumn potatoes, sow from mid-to-late August to early September. For pure planting, about 6500 plants per mu is suitable; for intercropping, about 2500 plants per mu is suitable. Apply 1500 kg of farmyard manure and 25 kg of superphosphate per mu as base fertilizer, and appropriately apply pig manure water at the seedling stage. Pay attention to weeding and disease prevention.
