Variety source: A two-line hybrid mid-season rice variety bred by Huazhong Agricultural University using "Hua 201S" as the female parent and "T226" as the male parent. It was approved by the Hubei Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee in 2005, with the variety approval number E Shen Dao 2005003.

Quality and yield: From 2003 to 2004, it participated in the Hubei Province mid-season rice variety regional trial. The rice quality was tested by the Food Quality Supervision and Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, with a brown rice rate of 81.4%, head rice rate of 58.8%, chalky grain rate of 60%, chalkiness degree of 9.6%, amylose content of 21.7%, gel consistency of 66 mm, and length-to-width ratio of 2.7. The two-year regional trial average yield was 563.25 kg per mu, a 5.35% increase over the control II You 725. Among them: in 2003, the yield was 554.65 kg per mu, a 9.93% increase over II You 725, extremely significant; in 2004, the yield was 571.84 kg per mu, a 1.25% increase over II You 725, not significant.

Characteristics: Moderate plant type, dark green leaf color, short and erect flag leaf, purple-red leaf sheath and glume tip. Strong tillering ability, moderate field growth vigor, average lodging resistance. Panicle layer not uniform enough, short grains and awnless, good color conversion at late stage. In the regional trial, the effective panicles per mu were 191,000, plant height 116.6 cm, panicle length 24.4 cm, total grains per panicle 159.2, filled grains 128.6, seed setting rate 80.8%, and 1000-grain weight 25.85 g. The whole growth period was 135.8 days, 4.5 days shorter than II You 725. Disease resistance identification showed high susceptibility to rice blast at the panicle neck, and moderate susceptibility to bacterial leaf blight.

Cultivation points: 1. Sow at the appropriate time and cultivate strong seedlings with tillers. Sow in mid-April in northern Hubei, and in early to mid-May in the Jianghan Plain and eastern Hubei. Sow 10-12 kg per mu in the seedling field, and use 1.0-1.2 kg per mu in the main field. Strengthen seedling field management to promote low-position tillering. 2. Transplant in a timely manner and plant at a reasonable density. Transplant when the seedling age is 25-30 days. Plant spacing 13.3 cm x 23 cm or 16.7 cm x 20 cm, with 1-2 grain seedlings per hill, and 80,000-100,000 basic seedlings per mu. 3. Strengthen fertilizer and water management to promote early growth. Use organic fertilizer and compound fertilizer as base fertilizer, apply tillering fertilizer early, apply 5-7.5 kg urea per mu after the seedlings turn green, and apply 2.5 kg urea per mu at the booting stage as flower-promoting fertilizer. Dry the field at the appropriate time, manage with alternating dry and wet conditions at the late stage, and pay attention to preventing lodging. 4. Pay attention to controlling diseases and insect pests such as rice blast, rice false smut, sheath blight, and stem borers.
