Application Methods of Fertilizer Long in Formula Fertilization for Rice
1. Advantages of Fertilizer Long: (1) Long-acting and synergistic effect, extending the fertilizer efficiency period of nitrogen fertilizer by 1 time, with no fertilizer deficiency phenomenon throughout the entire growth period of rice. (2) Improved nitrogen fertilizer utilization rate; deep fertilization overcomes fertilizer loss due to running, overflowing and seepage of field water, reducing fertilizer loss. (3) Enhanced resistance of rice to low temperature, drought and disease erosion. (4) Changes traditional multiple surface fertilization to deep one-time fertilization, saving fertilization labor and costs. (5) Reduced nitrogen fertilizer dosage; according to plots with different fertility, the pure nutrient amount of nitrogen fertilizer can be reduced by 15%-25%.
2. Application periods of Fertilizer Long: (1) Fertilization before plowing: first broadcast various element fertilizers mixed with Fertilizer Long in the field, then plow and rotary till the land. (2) Fertilization before soaking the field: first broadcast the mixed fertilizer, then soak the field. (3) Fertilization before water harrowing: after soaking the field, broadcast the mixed fertilizer, then begin water harrowing.
3. Preparation method of Fertilizer Long: Scientifically mix Fertilizer Long according to terrain, soil quality, soil fertility, fertilization amount, and the previous year's planted varieties and yield conditions. (1) Phosphorus element amount per mu: use 10 kg of diammonium phosphate, or mix it with compound fertilizer, i.e., 6-7 kg of diammonium phosphate and 9-10 kg of compound fertilizer (nitrogen 15, phosphorus 15, potassium 15), i.e., apply 4.5-5.5 kg of pure phosphorus per mu. Potassium element amount per mu: for general plots, apply 6.5-7.5 kg of pure potassium, i.e., 11-13 kg of potassium chloride, or 13-15 kg of potassium sulfate. Nitrogen element amount per mu: when formula-applying nitrogen, for poor fertility, or varieties with a longer growth period (160-165 days), or plots at higher terrain with poor water retention, it should be reduced by 15%-20%; for better fertility or varieties with a shorter growth period (130-135 days), it should be reduced by 20%-25%; for medium fertility or medium-late maturing varieties with a growth period of 155-158 days, it should be reduced by 20%.
When formulating the nitrogen fertilizer dosage, attention should be paid to the urea dosage. For low-lying waterlogged plots, or varieties with a shorter growth period, or plots where a certain amount of farmyard manure has already been applied, the urea application amount per mu is 12-13 kg; for high terrain or sandy leaking plots or saline-alkali plots, the urea application amount per mu is 15-17 kg; for medium plots with fertility and terrain water retention of 4-5 days, the urea application amount per mu is 13-15 kg. At the same time, ammonium chloride or ammonium sulfate is applied at 15-17 kg per mu, and ammonium bicarbonate is applied at 8-10 kg per mu. Other elements are also applied, i.e., magnesium sulfate and zinc (96%) at 1.5-2 kg per mu, regreening and tillering bacterial fertilizer at 0.5-1 kg per mu, and other micro-fertilizers, etc.
For the amount of Fertilizer Long to be mixed, you can refer to the nitrogen-containing fertilizer mixing table marked on the Fertilizer Long packaging bag, and calculate the amount of Fertilizer Long to be configured separately. For poor fertility or varieties with a longer growth period, use the upper limit of the marked amount; for better fertility or low-lying plots or varieties with a shorter growth period, use the lower limit of the marked amount; for medium fertility and varieties, take the middle limit of the marked amount. The cumulative sum of the Fertilizer Long amounts for each nitrogen-containing fertilizer is the total amount of Fertilizer Long used per mu for that plot. After the fertilizer calculation, it should be reviewed, and the pure nutrient amount of each element (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) applied per mu for that plot should be marked, kept by the farmer for use in fertilizer adjustment the following year.
4. Points to note when using Fertilizer Long: (1) Since the fertilizer for the entire growth period is applied to the field at one time, care should be taken when broadcasting fertilizer; when water harrowing, less water should be added, and agricultural machinery should be used for fine harrowing. (2) Rice seedlings in plots where Fertilizer Long is applied grow steadily, and the leaves are not as dark green as in plots with split fertilization, but do not rush to topdress fertilizer easily. (3) When light green leaves or insufficient tiller number appear at individual spots along field ridges and at water inlet openings, ammonium bicarbonate can be supplementarily applied (generally on June 20-25); use ammonium chloride and ammonium sulfate as little as possible or not at all, and urea must not be used, so as to avoid excessive growth and late maturity, and premature aging and lodging.
