Comprehensive Control Methods for Yellowing Garlic Leaf Tips in Autumn

Edible Gardening 0 views
Garlic planted in autumn is prone to leaf tip yellowing, which causes stunted stems and leaves, thin stalks, low yield and poor quality. 1. Causes 1. Low soil fertility and insufficient nutrient supply in the later stage. 2. Too high temperatures in the later stage and insufficient water supply. 3. Continuous cropping year after year and excessive density. 4. Severe damage from leaf spot, anthracnose, aphids, red spiders, etc. 2. Control measures 1. Choose loose sandy loam with relatively high fertility, and before planting apply farmyard manure at 4000 kg per 667 sq m.

Garlic planted in autumn is prone to leaf tip yellowing, which causes stunted stems and leaves, thin stalks, low yield and poor quality.

1. Causes

2. Control measures

1. Choose loose sandy loam with relatively high fertility, and before planting apply farmyard manure at 4000 kg per 667 sq m.

2. Plant at a plant spacing of 8 cm, a large row spacing of 20 cm and a small row spacing of 6 cm, keeping 40000 plants per 667 sq m.

3. During the seedling stage, broadcast plant ash at 100 kg per 667 sq m, which both prevents soil cracking from damaging garlic roots and adds potassium fertilizer.

4. In early spring, cultivate and loosen the soil to preserve moisture and control weeds 3 to 4 times.

5. Monitor soil moisture during the garlic seedling growth period and maintain field maximum water-holding capacity at 60% to 70%; soil that is too dry or too wet can easily cause yellow leaves and dry tips.

6. In the early stage of garlic seedling growth, regularly spray the leaves with Kangku Ning, Yimei Qing, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, etc., to improve stress resistance.

7. Spray clear water in the morning and evening, or spray 150 mg/kg sodium bisulfite, to inhibit plant nutrient consumption, reduce leaf water evaporation, ease the harm of dry hot winds, and delay leaf yellowing and premature plant senescence.

8. Autumn garlic is severely damaged by leaf spot, anthracnose, aphids, red spiders, etc., causing leaf tip yellowing; every 15 to 20 days spray the leaves once with a mixed solution of 1000-fold Lesiben and 800-fold methyl thiophanate, or a clarified mixed extract of 25- to 30-fold superphosphate and dry, clean plant ash, or a mixed solution of 1500-fold Anlübao and 600-fold Dikesong, wetting the leaves until they drip.
